Role overview :

As a teacher trainer with a specialization in teaching methodology, you will deliver training to the Teacher Educators who train Myanmar's student teachers.

This is the second part of a British Council and DFID co-funded project, managed by British Council and supported by VSO, which consists of training the trainers at Myanmar's Education Colleges and Education Universities, to strengthen both their English language and teaching skills. VSO is contributing half of the experts to the project and working closely with the British Council on project management and methodology. Volunteers will be expected to model best practice participatory teaching practices to teacher trainers, for many of whom this will be a new approach.

EfECT has four core components :

- Improving English language competence for all Burma's state teacher trainers and tertiary educators

- Improving teaching methodology competence for teachers and teacher trainers

- Improving access to, and an understanding of how to use international teaching materials/resources

- Improving teacher training methodology competence

In Year 2 of the project, which commenced in September 2015, the main focus is on improving teaching methodology but improvement of English language proficiency will remain an important component. The project team is led by the British Council and consists of a Project Director, a team of 6 senior trainers/cluster managers, VSO programme management support, 44 trainers and 8 administrators

Skills, qualifications and experience required :

- Appropriate teaching and education qualifications

- Extensive relevant state school or equivalent teaching

- Minimum 10 years in total Teacher training experience or teacher mentoring experience plus additional teaching experience

- Self-starter with the flexibility and adaptability to work in a challenging and remote environment.

- Most importantly, we are looking for passionate teachers who are passionate about sharing knowledge and skills related to teaching
