Position for Business Analyst

The purpose of job:

To provide insights based on data that are meaningful for British Council and help the organization to make informed decisions. To help an organisation use innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining approaches and work in a way where solutions and insights can be easily understood by the business.

Context and environment:

The British Council's Shared Services Centre was incorporated under Indian law in May 2010 as BC Management Services (BCMS), a wholly owned subsidiary of BC Holdings UK BCMS currently delivers Finance and Accounting services and IT Delivery services to the entire network working independent and/or as an extended team. BCMS also has a Contact Centre that serves British Council's India customers- inquiries on its offerings in India be it for Exams, Teaching or other programs. The Shared Services Centre is looking to build the capability of analytics within the center that will enable it to deliver more value to its customers.

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about solving problems using data. The candidate would have the experience and skills including tools and techniques to apply analytics but also the ability to engage with technology and business teams with empathy. Some of the key expectations from the role are shared below.

Roles and Responsibilities

- To solve data-intensive problems using analytical tools and techniques by offering actionable insights and recommendations that lead to measurable business impact for internal and external stakeholders

- Understand the nature, structure & quality of data, identify data issues and suggest solutions

- Ensure on-time & error free delivery, proactively escalate issues when required

- Able to communicate with all the internal and external stakeholders in absence of Senior business analyst, keeping them updated on technical findings or issues.

- Process unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis

- Create tutorials, documentation, reports, presentation and case studies for reference

- Work closely with relevant stakeholders to identify opportunities and define problem statements that could be solved through analytics while gaining an understanding of their operations and operating context

- Sourcing data (structured and unstructured) from various internal and external systems, cleaning and preparing for statistical analysis

- Leverages on new data collection processes and techniques for e.g geolocation and social media

- Recommends ongoing improvements to methods and algorithms that lead to findings, including new information.

- Enable reporting and MI teams and educate them on approaches like testing hypotheses and statistical validation of results.

Information Security :

- Ensure that their workforce is aware of the information security policies and comply with them

- Ensures that the team complies with ISO 27001 and IGA related requirements

- Send account opening requests effectively

- Disable accounts immediately for leavers and Absconders /on long leaves

- Document and monitor/review access levels of his/her team

- Provide security awareness and education to team

- Manage Records to ensure compliance with Freedom of information act.

- Ensure incidents of their respective functions are closed within SLAs

- Strong Interpersonal skills

- Strong Statistical knowledge

- Good Programming skills along with SQL/relational database Knowledge

- Good Written and Verbal communication Skills

- Knowledge of MS Excel and Power point
