Argonaut India was set-up in 2006 and since has invested several hundred million dollars in public and private equity transactions. The firm’s strategy is to take a long-term approach to the public markets; building expertise in select sectors where shareholder value is expected to be created.

The Role:

Argonaut is seeking Investment Associate/ Senior Investment Analyst candidates for its Mumbai office effective immediately.

- Responsibilities include industry and company research, diligence and financial modeling and analyses to support Argonaut’s investment idea generation process, investment deal execution, and portfolio company management

- Monitor and respond to incoming market information and economic developments to help dynamically manage portfolio-level risk

- Conduct primary diligence by visiting dealers, suppliers and customers to understand market dynamics

- Compile and write investment committee memos and presentations, participate in management calls, company meetings, industry conferences, etc.

- Utilize analytical problem solving skills to develop new trading strategies, and improve overall portfolio efficiency; use statistical methods where appropriate to back test ideas and strategies

- Take on responsibility quickly and interact with senior Argonaut investment professionals, advisors and management teams

- Work in a team environment closely integrated with other Portfolio Managers as well as the Technology and Quantitative Research teams to develop, test and implement new capabilities

- Successful candidates will need to be diligent, intellectually curious, have the ability to take ownership of a project or task, and be looking to develop an investor skill set

- Successful candidates will need to be able to balance efficient execution with intellectual curiosity to understand complex issues and effectively communicate findings

Qualifications

- 3 to 5 years investment related experience with at least 2 years completed in investment banking/management consulting or similar rigorous investment program preferably on the buy side.

- Strong analytical skills including solid background in financial modeling and valuation; must have strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Exemplary attention to detail and accuracy, strong work ethic, ability to multitask, desire to learn and teamwork-orientation

- Experience conducting company due diligence, research, speaking with management teams, writing investment memos and putting together investment presentations.

- Demonstrated passionate interest in financial markets, mathematics and statistics.

- Highly motivated, proactive thinker with a positive attitude

- Strong academic background with post graduate level education from top tier school

- Professional demeanor with sufficient maturity, self-awareness and humility to make good decisions
