Designation (open depending on seniority & exp) - AVP/GM/AGM - Public Relations & Corporate Communications

Reports to: Head - Public Relations & Corporate Communications

Department: Marketing

Years of Experience: Minimum of 8-12 years

Location: Mumbai

Basic Function: The Public Relations Manager will play a key role within the marketing and communications division, developing brand awareness and securing national press for primary and secondary brands. This is a highly entrepreneurial, newly created position with room for expansion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and implement strategic PR programs to achieve significant increases in brand awareness for the company & all its categories in-house.

- Serve as primary media contact directing all publicity, consumer awareness and image building campaigns in line with brand objectives

- Identify key media outlets

- Develop brand messaging, manage company public relations archives, oversee and help in execution of events

- Cultivate relationships with key business journalists in national and trade publications

- Pitch stories to both national and local media. Achieve highest visibility for in print, broadcast, TV and online, media, etc. outlets

- Evaluate results of the PR campaign to ensure it is in sync with the key messaging

- Must be able to identify PR opportunities for the company or create stories to ensure the company is in the news

- Liaison with functional heads and senior leadership to meet all PR requirements

- Must be able to develop PR communication - press releases, articles, letters, Q&As, profiles etc.

- Must be able to manage PR agencies as well as key internal stakeholders to deliver the PR goals

- Conceptualize and implement external & internal PR events.

- Identify speaking opportunities for senior executives and provide support in the form of speeches and talking points.

- Propose, manage and control PR budgets. Monitor news coverage of competitors and other industry bodies.

- Develop crisis management plan in case of any negative fallout affecting the brand image

- Write clear and compelling pitch letters, press releases and by-lined articles

- Identify media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities

- Proactively manage editorial calendars.

- Analyze and measure results of PR programs.

- Manage budgets and campaign ROI

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Strong network of B2B, national business and trade media contacts

- Established relationships with general business, consumer and entertainment trade press/analyst/blogger communities

- Proven successes in both traditional and interactive PR channels

- Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy

- A strong-sense of teamwork and ability to both manage AND execute programs - Knowledge of international publications and opportunities is a plus

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Qualifications: Any Grad + Post Graduate in Communications / Advertising / PR from Tier I/II Schools/Institutes preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

- Currently handling similar role in a large format PR agency or well established Corporate communications department of a reputed large sized organization (Media Houses/Agencies/Ecommerce cos preferred).

- Atleast 8-12 years relevant experience in public relations and communications is a must. Industry testimonials of excellence in Corporate Communications & PR are preferred.

SKILLS:

- Proficiency with basic computer and PR applications including Cision, Sysomos, Meltwater, CatchPole, Google, etc.

- Docs and News Alerts, MS Office Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

- Additional technology prowess given priority (WordPress, videoblogging)

- Voracious reader of books, news and magazines

- Avid consumer of news, politics, entertainment and pop culture

- Strong personal interest in political science, business issues or public policy

- Rich networks within the press/media/journalist fraternities.
