Head - Project Construction - Project Manager - Expatriate (20-30 yrs)

Position description Summary:

The Project that we are discussing is Pakal Dul HEP (1000 MW) located near Krishtwar (250 KM from Jammu, the nearest airport). We will be executing this project on EPC basis. The estimated project value is $ 1.4 Billion.The total duration will be 66 Months, expected to be commenced by end of the year.

Salary Offered - NO LIMIT ( Plus Benefits )

Reporting - MD & Board of Directors

- Responsible for implementation for assigned project, meeting : Cost, Time, Quality and Material reconciliation parameters.

- Responsible for accelerating progress, reducing costs and realizing revenues from Clients.

Key result areas:

Meet or exceed following performance targets

- Execution of work as per specified construction design and drawings provided by Client.

- Completion of projects as per timelines in the construction plan.

- Quality and Safety parameters as per construction methodology

- Material consumption as per material reconciliation parameters.

- Cost target as per cash flow projection.

- Billing as per monthly revenue targets

Key accountabilities:

1. Project Planning and Organizing:

a) Prepare detailed construction methodology vis-à-vis L2 & L3 Network Schedule jointly with Works Managers, fixing monthly targets. Obtain commitments for meeting targets.

b) Discuss and obtain from Head – Plant & Equipment the support plan for meeting production targets, providing mechanical and electrical engineering support and supply of core materials, equipment and machinery.

c) Lay down procedures in line with construction methodology for implementing construction drawings. Provide technical inputs or discuss and agree upon construction techniques to be adopted.

2. Execution and Supervision:

a) Monitor physical progress through daily site visits. Assess production throughput against targets. At weekly review meetings with Works Managers/ Shift Engineers discuss and agree on taking corrective steps to speed up tempo, if work is flagging and coverup pending work. To ensure production targets are consistently met.

b) Reconciliation of work done; measurement and abstract

c) Joint record with Client in case of idling, extra work, accident etc.

3. Resource Management

a) To assess PRW requirements in line with production plans. Obtain and provide manpower to Works Managers, through Sub-Contractors. To reallocate manpower at site to manage absences on account of leave or sickness.

b) Obtain regular feedback from Plant & Equipment, Stores and Finance departments on availability of core materials, equipments, machinery, spares and finance. At review meetings with Project Manager obtain support for :

i ) uninterrupted supplies of core materials

ii) provision of critical equipment, if required.

iii) provision of finance as per situational requirements.

Discuss threats likely to affect progress at site. Brainstorm and arrive at contigency plans. Implement if situation demands.

4. Changes in Construction Plan:

To make adjustments in the construction plan and shift to an alternate plan, if Client is unable to provide core materials as per contract or unable to carry out segments of work through a third party as originally planned; so that the project is not adversly affected.

Discuss, document and obtain written confirmation from client to changes in the construction plan.

5 Project Management:

a) To ensure production is achieved within cost parameters. To monitor manpower and material costs against work done and take immediate action to correct defective work procedures causing overruns. Introduce new cost effective measures conforming to construction methodology, in consultation with Team Members.

b) To generate MIS and provide reports to Client as per Tender requirements.

6. Quality:

To track joint reports on quality checks carried out by Client’s Quality Engineers and implementation of corrective steps suggested. Intervene if necessary.
Ensure ISO procedures are followed, if applicable.

7. Billing and realisation of Money:

To ensure on time submission of all production reports to the Billing Engineer so that timely preparation and submission of RA Bills is effected. Scrutinise RA Bill for accuracy in measurements and validate rates applied for labour and materials. Reconcile any issues raised by Client and rigorously follow up on realisation of money.

8. Production Reports:

To ensure timely preparation of Daily, Weekly and Monthly production reports. To scrutinise and okay reports before submission to HO Departments. Respond to querries on production delays or excess material consumption.

9. Client Management:

Develop smooth relations and sustain client confidence through personal rapport built on regular communications and interpersonal skills. Seek assistance in resolving billing disputes or expediting payment of dues.

10. Contract Management:

To explore possible extra items or subjects for Claims. To suggest and convince Client on changes in work procedure that are not only advantageous with respect to the Project but also generate extra items and inturn extra revenue for the Company.

11 Team Management:

a) To develop and maintain Team Spirit . To look into and resolve grievances of employees to the extent possible.

b) To maintain work discipline. To effectively confront dysfunctional behaviors and resolve conflicts at site.

c) To appraise employees performance and recommend increments and rewards.

12.. Health Safety and Environment:

a) To ensure safe working practices are adopted at site and to take immediate action on deviations.

To monitor adherence to laid down standards on handling of garbage or waste
