Job Description - India Head Marketing

The role of Head Marketing is responsible for leading all of our client's marketing efforts in India including strategic marketing, product marketing, pricing and marketing communications. The marketing leader will be responsible for achieving the sales and profitability targets for our client's Security and Low Voltage Distribution Business in India. Specific responsibilities include developing and executing:

1. Strategic Marketing

a. Annual and five-year goals and strategies by product category

b. Collection and dissemination of Market Intelligence

c. Measurement of customer satisfaction via surveys and store secret shoppers

d. Drive client's User Experience

2. Product and Customer Marketing Management

a. Strategy and execution plans for client's Core Assortment philosophy

b. Oversee category management

c. Increase customer base through customer retention and acquisition programs.

3. Pricing Strategy

a. Establish strategy and execution of nominal, catalog pricing

b. Establish strategy and execution of promotion pricing

4. Marketing Communications

a. Develop communication strategy for customers and internal constituents

5. Manpower

a. Recruiting, hiring and training the appropriate team to achieve budget goals

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for the Head Marketing role should have:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in similar leadership role. He/she must have a track record of successfully leading marketing, strategic planning and product management. Exposure to retail and distribution environment will be preferred.

- The successful candidate must possess proven marketing strategic, analytical and implementation skills.

- An undergraduate degree in a technical or business discipline is required. An MBA is highly desirable (top-tier school preferred).

- Ability to work effectively with senior-level executives and manage internal customer relationships. Must be able to work with executives, leaders and staff of affiliated companies.

- Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals.

- Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions/advertising.

Specifically, he/she:

- Develops and executes go-to-market strategies

- Oversees implementation and daily execution of the Core Assortment Strategy

- Recruits, trains and manages Product Managers, Pricing and Marcom employees

- Develops, leads and coaches India Product/Category Marketing teams in order to ensure there is a consistent coordinated message between the regional businesses and all vendors across India.

- Negotiates, develops, manages and influences beneficial partnerships with key vendors

- Develops processes to ensure any newly considered vendors are in line with the strategic business development plan.

- Works intensively to create a collaborative atmosphere at all levels and functions within the regional team to help them to grow their business.

- Oversees and provides direction to market and competitor analysis.

- Creates an institutional and system-wide marketing reporting function that can track, measure and analyze performance.

- Identifies and quantifies current and future Product/Category strategies & activities

- Develops processes to identify and proactively drive the introduction of new products, product categories and services within the organization to maximize sales for new business opportunities

- Implements client's global best marketing practices in India

- Develops, facilitates and monitors working capital strategies, including inventory, payment terms, and reserves

- Drives SIOP processes to balance sales objectives with working capital requirements.

- Identifies key new technologies, products and vendors

- Provides guidance and approvals for local vendors

- Prepares AOP, STRAP material, including business plan for Product/Category management

- Utilize tools to analyze business issues & Product/Category performance

- Creates pricing, mix & margin strategies

- Leads negotiation og contracts and terms with strategic vendors

- Ensure effective management of working capital for the different Product/Category - inventory levels/turns & payables terms

- Ensure management/disposition IOS/Excess for the overall Products/Category portfolio

- Collect industry and competitive information

- Create product position papers and internal announcements

Candidate Profile

Works effectively with others to identify and resolve issues. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact successfully with a diverse work force.

Role :

Client is into distribution of Low Voltage Security and Fire products for multiple brands. It is part of client's Global which is USD 2.2 Billion enterprise with presence in North America, EMEA and APAC. The current position is for India business. The products are sold to the installers(channel) who provide solutions to end users. Client has established itself as the One Stop Shop for all kinds of products spread across different categories like - CCTV, IP, Access, Fire, Intrusion, Home Solutions, PA, AIDC. The products are sold through a network of branches, sales offices and resident reps present all across India.

1. The role is responsible for managing all the product categories and brands and is supported by Product Managers who report into this position.

The role is responsible for creating a complete long term strategic plan based on market trends and growth opportunities.

2. Ensuring optimum portfolio mix for maximizing profits and customer service by indentifying key profitable segments.

3. Responsible for developing the portfolio of brands and products offerings to increase revenue and customer growth.

4. Managing relationships with vendors to achieve favorable terms and sales support.

5. Lead marketing strategy for different brands in terms of positioning, pricing, availability at locations, promotion programs, offers and sales tools to enable results. Identify portfolio gaps and introduce NPIs to address key segments.

6. Responsible for achieving Revenue, GM, Inventory targets and growth for brands and categories.

7. Managing the SIOP process.

This role offers a great learning opportunity and exposure with the best in class organization in distribution of low voltage products. The person can grow into overall head for complete marketing function or move into a P&L role to manage the business.

Qualification :

The role demands a rich experience of more than 12 years in sales/marketing with deep understanding of channels, channel behavior, products and local market. The person should have strategic planning and execution abilities to create and execute robust strategies.

Experience of at least 4 to 5 Years in a distribution or multi-brand retail is pre-requisite.

He/she should be an MBA from reputed with specialization on Marketing. Understand of P and L and working knowledge of Finance will be required.

Being familiar with industry and market knowledge will be an asset.

Knowledge about pricing, Category Management, product portfolio management, NPI process is essential.

The person needs to be highly committed and passionate about the role as this could be very demanding.

The person needs to possess high level of problem solving and analytical skills.
