Job Title: Head of Digital Business Strategy

Reports to: Managing Director

Purpose of the Job

- To develop company-wide digital publishing strategies for school, HE and Academic markets in Indian branch territory, in accordance with business priorities; to coordinate cross-department digital initiatives; define project specifications to initiate, plan and implement new digital projects; and monitor implementation of all digital projects.

Principal Accountabilities

- To define digital strategy direction in key market segments

- To identify potential digital business opportunity in consultation with different departments

- To establish business goals in consultation with business heads

- To liaison with other corporate group offices in India and abroad.

- To ensure staff development

Main duties and responsibilities

- To conduct research, collect market information and provide regular updates with reviews on technology trend, competitor products; their strengths & weaknesses, pricing model, key customer groups.

- To identify customer needs and all other relevant information by asking questions and seeking data; communicate such info to relevant internal people

- To identify the potential and feasibility of launching new digital products and services in different market segments

- To meet customer needs consistently within commercial constraints

- To recommend project priority based on sound analysis and judgement, competitive strengths, resource requirements, and expected return

- To communicate with all relevant parties on agreed project priority

- To establish commonly agreed product and service specifications, roles of different departments and delivery time frame

- To monitor the progress of all projects

- To conduct quarterly review and analyse reasons for deviation; communicate with management on issues observed

- To maintain close contact with relevant executives from headquarter and other branches

- To identify inter-branch collaboration opportunities for cost efficiency

- To evaluate digital literacy of staff members of the Press; identify training needs, and organize relevant workshops

Person specification

- Strong Academic record

- Experience in e-publishing/LMS/ Online Selling

- Proven track record of technologies being embraced and successfully implemented

- In-depth understanding of publishing business, particularly digital publishing

- Proven ability to lead and manage change; inspire and motivate a team

- Excellent communication and organizational skills
