Head of Design

Responsibilities :

- Manage entire design team to adhere to design quality standards

- Prepare cost estimates, sketches, layouts, specifications and other criteria pertinent to project development

- Make presentations to present complete scope of work, suggest various designs, colour schemes of furniture

- Account for cost and availability of materials and safety implications

- Give estimated deadlines to reporting manager and supervise the design team to carry out the same

- Prepare models/designs/layout of the project and ensure the design is finalized before handing it over to execution team. Make sure design can be manufactured/executed

- Supervise the work of senior designers, interior decorators designers and assistant designers on assigned projects. Review the work done by the designers and decorators periodically to ensure timely completion of projects

- Carry out research to help develop ideas, considering how the item will look and its practicality/ functionality.

- Test ideas using models, prototypes and computer-aided design (CAD)

- Work closely with other professionals such as production managers, sales & marketing staff and site engineers

- Enhance technical knowledge and skills regularly adding value to business. Suggest technological advancements to the management.

- Stay informed about design trends and developments using vendors and other sources

- Follow standard operating procedures and give inputs to revise them periodically.
