COO Warehouse Operations:
Receives and stores product by designing and developing product movement and storage systems; improving operations; managing staff.
- Accomplishes warehouse operations human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; policies and procedures.
- Achieves warehouse operations objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
- Meets warehouse operations objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
- Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
- Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analysing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Experiential Requirements :
- Should have managed Warehousing Operations - preferably in 3PL environment or self-managed shipper facility (i.e. those companies which manage their own Warehouses).
- Should have handled Business Excellence function or should have experience in that.
- Good to have but not mandatory is to have Solution Design Experience as part of Career
- Good to have but not mandatory is to have travelled/Worked abroad and should understand how Warehousing actually works. In India, we majorly manage Rent and Manpower.
- Should not have worked most of the time in Transportation - good to have Transportation background but focus on Warehousing Excellence
- Have good knowledge of Kaizens/5S/TQM/6Sigma.
- Understand HSE and able to implement.
- Global 3PL exposure preferred.
- Don- t need a person who is primarily into Sales managing Warehousing Vertical or Transportation given additional responsibility of Warehousing too - that's too common here.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven work experience in a Leadership Position in warehouse management
- Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Experience with warehouse management software and databases
- Leadership skills and ability manage staff
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ideally in 40s or younger but age no bar for right candidate
