Job Description for Head Analytics

Objective :

The incumbent will be heading the Management information system (MIS) of PAPL. The MIS function deals with the Sales & Distribution side of the business and its key responsibility is to provide ready information, analyze and facilitate speedy strategic and operational decision making required to manage the business effectively.

Role Description :

- The incumbent is expected to spearhead all activities of the MIS function both at HO & at the region. Conducting thorough business analysis, maintaining & monitoring business performances across various parameters ranging from Top line to Bottom-line. Investigating and understanding key business issues behind the numbers and providing clear, concise and timely analysis, interpretations along with recommendations.

- He or she will not only be responsible for providing active business support with the help of rigorous data usage but also play a lead role in institutionalizing healthy practices for data preparation i.e maintaining data quality, data warehousing & overall master data management.

- In order to handle corporate data properly and in a standardized way across the entire organization corporate data quality processes and methods will need to be put in place to ensure that the all data inputs are streamlined & updated given the business dynamicity at all points in time to enable the right inferences & correlations.

- As the organization moves towards a more IT enabled environment, the incumbent will be responsible in managing data inputs, data reporting, data interpretation, management the MIS teams and managing the information transition throughout the enterprise. The incumbent will also be responsible for driving an evolved analytics culture within the organization.

KPIs :

- Business Reviews: Conducting thorough business reviews, transforming raw data into meaningful and useful information to enable more effective strategic, tactical, and operational insights and decision-making. Timely identification of critical aspects of the business and therefore alignment of the overall business strategy in light of the overall picture.

- Management Dashboards: Spearheading the development of multidimensional reports along with exception reporting on a regular basis to act as a critical support for executive decisions.

- Analytics driven culture: Moving from plain vanilla data analysis to an advanced analytics approach to gain valuable knowledge from data with the use of descriptive techniques and predictive models such as sales forecasting, optimization & price and promotion modeling, etc.

- Data visualization: Institutionalizing a practice of visual representation of data showcasing the key business insights & trends that helps communicate information clearly and effectively for better assimilation of the business users.

- Information Management: Developing a ready repository of information of approved business plans for the purpose of constant reviews & creating historical information for the organization.

- Master data Management: Corporate data quality management by way of robust policies and practices that control & protect the value of data and information at the regions and the centre. Effective data governance to exercise positive control over the processes and methods used by data custodians to handle data. Development of the standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality and ensuring compliance of the same.

- IT Integration for S&D: Working closely with the IT team to develop the long term IT roadmap for the sales & distribution part of the organization. Managing the data/ information transition from the current state to a more IT enabled environment with sales force automation & distributor management system, etc.

- Development of the HO & Regional MIS teams: The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating and developing the MIS team’s competencies as per the organization’s vision of taking its management information systems to the next level.

Prerequisites :

- Highly motivated with numbers, high degree of comfort with data and excel spread sheets & high end analysis using statistical tools & modeling etc to add value to the overall analysis

- Ability to generate insights, trends and the why behind the numbers

- Ability to interact with senior management and be able to present the larger picture behind the numbers.

- Business Knowhow couple with sound understanding of FMCG Sales & Distribution

- High sense of personal ownership, responsibility and self control in fulfilling business commitments

- Confluence of Analytical ability , Business Acumen & IT orientation

General Attributes :

- Good Analytical & Conceptual frame of mind

- Skilled in preparing reports and maintaining the same for future reference

- Good communication & Presentation skills.

- Eye for detail

- Excellent interpersonal skills & Ability to communicate effectively

- Ability to lead and develop a team, proficiency in maintaining inter team coordination

Experience : 10 + years

Preferred Background: FMCG / Analytics/ Consultancy/ IT- MIS/ Sales MIS

Position in the organization

In order to understand the overall vision & perspective of the organization’s progression with respect to management information systems for the sales & distribution part of the organization, the incumbent will be reporting to the JMD-CMO for a period of 6 months, post settling in the profile he or she will be reporting to the VP Sales
