Global Research Associate - Chem/Auto/Engg (6-10 yrs)

Position Specification:

Role: Global Research Associate - Chemical /Automotive/Engineering (GURGAON)

Our Client is one of the world's top five Executive Search Firms with offices in 38 countries across Europe/Middle East, Asia & the Americas. The firm specializes in senior level executive search, board consulting and director search, management and leadership development.

Role description:

- The Associate will leverage his/her deep domain knowledge and external network to drive C-level/senior candidate recommendations and/or mid-level candidate development. This individual also will proactively drive business development opportunities given his/her intimacy with market trends and company insights. The Associate will build, or have built, an external network of industry or functional sources and experts that they can tap into to drive client solutions.

- The Associate is expected to function autonomously as required. However, the Segment and Practice researchers and consultants work collectively as a team for candidate idea generation, references and client assignment work.

- This role will be visible to clients and will be expected to help develop key account strategies. As an experienced hire, this individual is expected to lead by example and act as an informal mentor and coach to other researchers he/she works with throughout the organization. This is an individual contributor role however there will be extensive collaboration with global colleagues on projects.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Assignment Research:(70% time allocation)

- Execute - Global- assignment research for projects determined by segment leader and global practice specialist

- Demonstrate excellent operational expertise and in-depth knowledge of key markets and talent pools

- Leveraging individual and firm knowledge / experience to act as a thought partner in the start-up phase of the search process, including setting expectations / confirming next steps

- Recommend calibration candidate profiles and validate search strategies

- Recommend approach and priority target company universe through market research

- Accountable for assessing and prioritizing potential candidates through database, internal network, external resources and market outreach as appropriate

- Conduct informal referencing to validate candidates

- Initial candidate outreach on appropriate mid-level assignments to obtain biographical information, gauge interest for new opportunities, develop initial assessment and warm the introduction to a consultant

- Lead the assignment team throughout the search processes to drive strategy, candidate solutions and supporting client materials

- Ensure the real-time capture of insights on candidates and companies in the Firm's proprietary database throughout the course of the assignment

Business Development Support: (10% time allocation)

- Develop business development research to support Segment growth strategy

- Alert Consultants to key moves and market changes, highlighting potential business development opportunities and rally team around specific actions

- Recommend the strategy behind high-quality marketing presentations inclusive of calibration candidates

- Leverage domain expertise and strategic thinking to develop winning marketing presentations and pitches

- Participate as part of core team (partnering with Consultants) in managing key accounts and/or cultivating aspirational accounts

- Share Company/Client and Candidate specific updates

- Keep abreast of market intelligence and proactively provide informed views of the industry/sector to help colleagues get up to speed quickly

- Leverage strategic insights to understand Client needs and spot new business opportunity

Knowledge Management: (20% time allocation)

- Contribute to the Firm's knowledge management activities by looking for opportunities to share expertise and best practices, developing a network of people within an industry or functional area and recording pertinent information in a timely manner

- Partner with the IndustrySegment Leader and/or Knowledge Manager on key practice knowledge initiatives and knowledge sharing

- Build knowledge in a specific segment or function through proactive market research

- Proactive networking with high potential talent in the industry/function

- Accountable for ensuring relevant documents, information and high-potential / staff candidates are captured in the Firm's database at the conclusion of an assignment

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Knowledge/Experience:

- An undergraduate degree (engineering or technical degree preferred) from an accredited academic institution is required, and an advanced degree is strongly recommended

- Knowledge of the chemical/automotive/engineering industry(candidates with either basic and/or specialty experience are preferred), including a professional network

- 6-10 years of experience which includes 3-4 years working with chemical/automotive/engineering industry companies through consulting projects or some experience working for a engineering company as well as more general consulting experience

- Experience of working on international engagements in a professional services environment

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and how to use its programs

Skills:

- Outstanding written and oral communication skills

- Effective interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with internal and external colleagues

Location - The position is based out of Gurgaon
