JOB SUMMARY:   Generally, with minimal direction, an Associate IT Manager manages technical professionals in the performance of their duties according to objectives and requirements of the function. The work of the group is varied and requires decision making to set direction and proactive participation and supervision to ensure results. The Associate IT Manager will assist the IT Manager in supporting projects, metrics reporting, planning, communication of policy and procedures and recommends changes to department processes. The Associate IT Manager will lead the team towards achieving department and company goals while minimizing business risks and delivering superior customer service.  Specifically, this position is responsible for a large development and support team working on a wide variety of vendor and custom-coded applications for the middle-tier layer of a very large corporate system. This role carries an equally wide variety of responsibilities including collaboration with managers of dozens of internal technical and business customer teams, vendor relationship management, supervision of a large team spanning 16 hours, resource career development, and ownership of software solutions, among other responsibilities. This position reports to an IT Manager and works closely with a peer both based in California.  JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  - Develop team goals, objectives and approaches from objectives provided by IT Manager  - Lead IT team members to meet goals and metrics related to quality, staffing, financial reporting and performance  - Communicate and implement department vision  - Assist IT Manager with annual department and goal planning  - Approve non-exempt timesheets  - Advise senior staff on complex issues  - Evaluate employee performance, writing periodic reviews or Annual Performance Reviews, making merit recommendations, applying the disciplinary process and employee recognition  - Evaluates and researches marketplace trends and compliance initiatives  - Assist with projects as assigned by IT Manager  - Assess workload and staffing impact to team and work processing  - Manage support coverage for two daily shifts and weekends  - Develop solutions to address area challenges   - Establishes and maintains working relationships with FTT Customers and with external vendors  - Acts as advisor of subordinate(s) to meet schedules, objectives and/or resolve technical problems, following general policies and procedures  - May assist with review of department policy and procedures to ensure that they are current with Corporate Security Policies  KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:   - Overall 9+yrs of experience  - Minimum 5+ years as a senior team member or equivalent senior technical experience, previous management experienced preferred  - Demonstrated leadership skills in oversight of people and small to large projects  - Experience handling business administration planning, forecasting, and data analysis  - Plans, schedules, and arranges department activities in accomplishing management objectives  - Exposure to multi-platform environments  - Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department and corporate guidelines  ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:   - Experience with handling internal and external audits  - Previous middleware/integration technology experience  - Previous Financial Services experience  SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   - A proactive, independent self-start work style  - Deliver results within established timeframes while managing multiple priorities  - Work independently and in teams to identify problems of moderate scope and complexity and implement solutions in a dynamic environment   - Initiate solutions by applying independent judgment  - Intermediate level analytical and critical thinking skills  - Be persuasive and advocate point of view when appropriate  - Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with subordinates, peers and senior level management  - Quickly comprehend verbal and written instructions of new information  - Organize and prioritize workflow and coordinate the work of others  - Maintain confidentiality  - Excellent communication skills including proper use of grammar, vocabulary, spelling, proofreading and document generation
