We have an urgent opening for one of the leading world's largest publisher & distributor of children books for the profile of Financial controller at Gurgaon.

Job description:

Managing a team of 11 including 2 qualified managers, 1 company secretary and 1 legal assistant, the Financial Controller will work closely with representatives across all functions of the business. The role has a solid functional reporting line into the Regional Finance Director and a strong operational line into the Managing Director.

The position will have additional responsibility of legal and secretariat.

Responsibilities

- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition

- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances

- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements

- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and deal with internal and external auditors.

- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

- Support month-end and year-end close process

- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

- Manage and comply with local, state, and central government reporting requirements and tax filings

- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

- Tax compliance including income tax, VAT and corporation tax

- Support the implementation of new processes and controls and the implementation of new systems

Qualification

- Fully qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

Experience & Skills:

- Previous experience in a similar position, including experience of providing Financial Control across a group of companies.

- Sound and up to date knowledge of IGAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

- 10+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience within an international organisation.

- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

- Experience with creating financial statements.

- Experience in the application of internal control procedures and frameworks including ICFR

- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

- Strong IT literacy, Microsoft Excel in particular and Knowledge of Net Suite and other ERP systems.

- Involvement in the implementation of processing and control systems in a time pressured environment

- Hands-on approach and proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

- Proven team player with leadership skills including the ability to coach and energise others

- Interpersonal skills sufficient to support, advise and influence managers from different parts of the business whilst providing strong financial control where necessary
