Role & Responsibilities of the position in brief:
- Responsible for key broker / dealer or Primary dealer or NBFC entity controllership function in Powai
- Liaising with the entity Controllers and Consolidation group to provide an understanding of financial reporting and month end closing process.
- Needs to understand the Business, Structure and Regulatory Reporting requirements of the Legal Entities assigned.
- Monthly and year-end close for US GAAP / Local GAAP Financial Statements. This includes P&L, BS, Off BS reporting, various schedules & disclosures as per the Regulatory requirement. Ensuring Financial statements are complete, accurate, prepared in a timely manner, and are in accordance with GAAP on a legal entity and a consolidated basis.
- Good working knowledge on month end closing process for any Legal entity, financial instruments reporting and disclosure as per US GAAP / IFRS.
- Understanding of cross border transactions between Nomura subsidiaries and ensuring all the Inter Company transactions are reconciled, breaks resolved and gets eliminated upon consolidation.
- Finalize and review of PL/BS ( Trading and non trading ) and provide analytical review / comments on drivers explaining the movements for the reporting period
- Implements quality assurance practices to ensure accuracy, quality and timeliness. Identifies and drives improvements in the implementation of the financial control framework across areas of responsibility
- Ownership of key controls supporting the General Ledger and other reporting applications including managing the SOX compliance.
Key Skills:
- The role requires a professionally qualified person with relevant experience preferably Chartered Accountant - 4–7 years experience in audit / Financial Services/ Banking or other industry.
- Should have strong analytical skills to be able to understand business & structure of the Legal Entities assigned to produce variance analysis for movements in financial statements.
- Strong MS-Office Skills, Excellent Analytical and communication skills, USGAAP Knowledge
- Strong ability to communicate in English with all regions.
- Self starter, problem solver and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Excel system skills and ability to learn company specific systems
- Must be able to work well and complete tasks under tight deadlines depending on regional requirements.
- Should be capable of root cause analysis and problem solving
- Knowledge of financial services is desirable
- Should be able to handle pressure situations
- Prior exposure to derivatives will be an added advantage.
