Leap Track Manager

Leap, Fidelity's development program for new technologists, uses its vibrant college relations program to target colleges and universities to identify and recruit top IT candidates for Fidelity's technology businesses. The entry-level new hires complete an accelerated development program in technology, business and professional skills, positioning them for rapid integration into their job roles. Additional training and networking activities encourage long-term retention of this top talent.

The Track Manager, is the primary people manager of assigned Leap participants and will coach, guide and be an on-going resource to them throughout the program. S/he establishes goals and objectives, manages performance, provides feedback, assesses skills and knowledge and prepares performance reviews for assigned Leap participants. At the end of each program, the Track Manager negotiates placement of the Leap participants into appropriate roles in technology business units. During the two- three month project phase of the program, this role oversees several technical application projects and provides technical mentorship to assigned Leap participants.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and develop a group of assigned Leap participants, set goals and objectives and conduct formal performance appraisals

- Provide professional and technical mentorship, coaching and on-going development feedback to assigned Leap participants during the technical training phase and software development projects, and ensure they are adequately trained to undertake assigned tasks and projects

- Act as a project mentor to assigned project work teams, coach project performance and act as a resource on the development and execution of project plans to ensure timely completion of software development projects at established quality standards

- Work with the Leap Management Team to successfully place all Leap associates into suitable roles

- Actively participate in the Leap Leadership Team and contribute to program design and development initiatives

- Ensure Fidelity and Leap policies and procedures are carried out to defined specifications

- Establish and maintain collaborative work relationships with Fidelity's technology businesses to inform program activities

Qualifications:

- 10 to 13 years of experience in IT Industry and experience in Agile/Water fall methodologies

- 3+ years of people management experience

- Experience of working with campus hires

- Experience with some or all of the following: object-oriented, web, desktop application or mainframe development and/or relational databases

- Understanding of secure application development concepts and mechanisms

- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence others

- Strong written and verbal communication

- Flexible and adaptive problem-solving, with the ability to implement practical and innovative ways to meet goals

- Excellent planning and organization

- Strong analysis, design and estimation skills

- Business domain knowledge preferred
