Fidelity and Division Overview

Fidelity is a privately held, international provider of financial services and investment resources that help individuals and institutions meet their financial objectives. The firm is the largest mutual fund company in the United States, and the No. 1 provider of workplace retirement savings plans. Fidelity Investments was established in 1946 with, headquarters in Boston. Fidelity started its Indian operations in September, 2001 and currently has operations in Bangalore and Chennai.

The FPCMS business division of Fidelity provides accounting and investment management support services for Fidelity mutual funds and other retail and institutional investment products. These services include calculating and distributing NAVs, distribution rates and yields for a wide variety of investment products; preparing fund financial statements, dividend estimates and tax returns; monitoring delivery of fund trades to custodian banks; processing corporate actions; collecting securities income on behalf of the funds; reconciling, reporting and moving money in support of fund shareholder transactions; and managing fund liquidity.

The FPCMS Systems and Solutions Delivery team provides core application development and support services for ~200 FPCMS applications. The team works on technology-based projects in collaboration with other Fidelity systems divisions, customers, and custodian banks.

Director of Architecture - FPCMS India

As the head of the Architecture team, you will manage an 8-10 member team of highly skilled product and data architects in India. Responsibilities include hiring, managing, mentoring, coaching and performance management.

In addition to the management role, you will also be the Product Architect for the Tax product. In this role, you will enable solutions to business problems through deep subject matter expertise and innovative, delivery oriented approaches. This role will help drive a spirit of innovation, technology strategy, and architecture for the Tax product in FPCMS.

In close partnership with the FPCMS Tax business and systems teams, this person will author the Multi-Year product architecture roadmap, actively promote opportunities to optimize, consolidate, reuse, and simplify. They will author actionable architecture solutions that achieve business goals, align with FPCMS technology strategy, and promote best practices in design and architecture.

The FPCMS Systems and Solutions Delivery team is a highly collaborative team. In addition to subject matter expertise and relevant experience, a successful candidate will exemplify a spirit of partnership, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and seek to educate partners on the - why- behind best practices and architecture decisions. They will seek to elevate and broaden the expertise of their fellow team members.

This position will have a strong dotted line relationship to the Head of FPCMS Architecture and Data, as well as to the FPCMS Fund Administration Product Line, both of which positions are based in the US.

Primary Responsibilities

Architecture:

- Design and architect actionable solutions related to FPCMS Tax product

- Support the Tax Product roadmap, the creation and active management of Multi-Year Architecture roadmap

- Review, identify, and recommend opportunities to optimize, consolidate, refactor, reuse, simplify and streamline the infrastructure and software asset base

- Define, champion, manage pace, and govern technology standards, development methodologies, and related Enterprise Standards

- Recommend software platforms and frameworks for building cross product assets to optimize for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market

- Actively engage with vendors influencing their architecture roadmaps, technology direction, and investment

- Track software assets, analyze, report, and recommend the short- and long-term IT Hygiene risk impact and tradeoffs to the Product

- Monitor business and technology trends, participate in industry consortia, assess impact on architecture strategy, and promote innovation across products

- Actively contribute to Product strategy and engage with key business partners to understand prioritization and influence direction

- Provide proactive technical oversight and mentorship to development teams fostering re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency

- Proactively identify FPCMS and enterprise opportunities that accelerate delivery and drive down operational costs through cross-product platform utilities and services

- Actively work within the FPCMS Architecture community to define, implement and foster standards and best practices.

- Maintain effective relationships with managers and technical leads for individual products.

Management:

- Hiring, team building, career development, performance management of architects in the team.

- Work closely with US architecture managers for ensuring work assignments, performance feedback for team members.

Education and Experience:

- This role will typically require 16+ years of experience in multiple IT areas that include analysis, design, evaluation, and development

- Demonstrated architecture and personal leadership experience

- Demonstrated experience managing senior level talent

- Bachelors or Masters Degree in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Software, etc.) required

Skills and Knowledge:

Must have the following Skills and Knowledge:

- Demonstrated expertise of the Java platform including Web Applications, Enterprise Applications, Web Services, and Management

- Demonstrated expertise of Web Servers, Application Servers, Thin client development, and Enterprise Application Security

- Demonstrated experience with the Spring Framework

- Experience with Event Driven Architecture / Paradigm, ESB, JMS

- Strong knowledge of Relational Databases

- Knowledge of cloud and container technologies

- Experience designing and architecting successful complex enterprise solutions

- Demonstrated willingness to understand the business being served and apply the correct technical solutions in order to enable successful achievement of its goals and objectives

- Thorough understanding of leading data principles, movement, and access patterns

- Architectural expertise in project, product, and cross product technology strategy and architectural design

- Successful experience working within a matrixed organization

- The ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience

- Strong inter-personal and communication skills including written, verbal, and technology illustrations

- The capability to establish and promote technology and architectural strategy

- Experience working with multiple clients and projects at a time

- Demonstrated capability developing, maintaining, promoting, and reviewing system architectures

- Capable of providing thought leadership and abstract thinking

- An understanding of technologies costs (e.g. level of effort, infrastructure costs) and the ability to model their implications based on recommended architectures

- The ability to quickly understand and incorporate new technologies

Skills and Knowledge considered a plus, but not required:

- Experience using leading industry standard technologies. Examples include Informatica, Tableau, OBIEE, WebSphere, Tomcat, Java, ESB products

- Knowledge of OSGi a strong plus

- Experience with database design and technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)

- System Platforms: AIX, Linux, Solaris, Mainframe

- Industry best practices (e.g. SOA) and standards (e.g. BPEL).

- Software Development experience (Java, C++, C, Net, SQL, Web Services)

- Experience with Architectural patterns for High Availability, Performance, Scale Out architecture, Disaster Recovery, Security Architecture

- Project Management experience (e.g. timeline creation, resource management, status tracking, etc.) specifically for proofs of concept, ROI analysis, and broad technology strategy efforts

- Knowledge of the Securities and Mutual Fund Industry and standards such as SWIFT
