Job Outline

OSF Capital Management is a startup based out of Mumbai. OSFCM is founded by a Harvard Business School Alumni and is supported by a very small team of very capable individuals.

OSFCM builds comprehensive investment strategies for investment in equities for medium to long term.
The investment strategies are aimed at enabling practice of ‘Value Investing’ in a systematic manner.

The unique feature of approach is that the investment strategies will be built on well acknowledged academic research papers published by finance and investment faculty that are tenured at most renowned universities such as Harvard, Chicago Booth, Columbia, and Stanford. ‘Value Investing’ essentially involves being able to identify value creating investment opportunities based on identifying a company’s true value versus potential mispricing in the markets.

The strategies currently built are already in application for about two years with astounding success. This works involves ongoing research and sinsights that synthesizes newer research papers. This work studies ALL instances of stock outperformance in different markets around the world and such as USA, India, UK, Germany and build a number of investment insights that are amenable to practice in the real market place. As the work grows, it rises in complexity and improves in results.

Job Requirements

- Proficiency in financial, mathematical and statistical techniques, advanced excel-based modeling skills are prerequisites

- Capabilities in financial statement analysis, understanding of company’s fundamentals in terms of nature of its business, growth dynamics, cost structure, and competitive positioning. Candidates need to understand the dynamics that drive Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements, and Ratio Analysis

- Understanding of industry structure, its growth & profitability drivers, competitiveness levels and linkages to GDP movements. Knowledge of Porters Five Forces Analysis, BCG Growth Share Matrix, Concepts of Core Competence etc are knowledge areas that are needed to be known

- Capabilities are also required in the area of investment appraisal, valuation techniques and theories about portfolio management. Prior experience in backtesting Investment strategies and Portfolio Construction / Optimization. Knowledge of valuation techniques such as PE, EV to EBITDA Based valuations, Gordon Growth Models is needed.

- Ability to read and absorb acknowledged research papers and testing their assertions using quantitative models. Prior knowledge of using IBES / FactSet / Capital IQ / Bloomberg is a must

- Willingness to work hard in diverse areas, having an analytical frame of mind and orientation to synthesize disparate information and create action points that are of winning nature. Superior communication abilities in terms of oral and written are expected

- This work is for self starters. A lot of initial training and on going guidance will be provided. However, a self starter with discipline to put in efforts needed is a must.

- Fine people skills, ability to get along with others and bringing positive orientation and energy to work will round off all the other capabilities in the best way

Educational Qualification

- B.Tech/Dual Degree/MSc from Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai, Delhi, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Madras, Roorkee, Guwahati & IIT-BHU

- Certification from the CFA Institute, USA - Chartered Financial Analyst will be an added advantage
