Job Description - The objective of the role is to create a more conducive environment for domestic companies/ start-ups and thereby also attract greater flows of capital. To achieve this, he will work through multiple channels such as policy advocacy, legal challenges and engagement with government and other relevant agencies to promote the interests of India's internet sector.

Our client is a group of leading investors and entrepreneurs from the local Internet ecosystem whose objective is to make India the world's largest and most successful internet technology ecosystem. The organization will serve as a collaborative platform for Indian internet enabled technology firms and investors in addressing ecosystem issues. In doing so, it also intends to help fulfil Hon. Prime Minister Modi's vision for Start-up India and Digital India.

Description

- Set-up the Internet TechOrg Association end-to-end (including forming a team for the Association, setting up the governance body, ensure memberships)

- Establish and run a startup accelerator program including setting up a fund for early stage startups from the Indian ecosystem, creating a platform for investors and entrepreneurs to come together an further the start-up eco-system

- Thought leadership in terms of establishing a go to body for the Indian Internet sector - research on innovation / technology, bring in best practices to promote the local industry, organise events, conferences, etc

- Work with all stakeholders including Indian tech company entrepreneurs, governments, think tanks, to further the objectives of India TechOrg (such as policy advocacy with the government to facilitate rapid growth of the local industry, liaising with the Centre and State level bodies for regulatory frameworks)

Skills required

This role requires strong entrepreneurial drive, passion to make a meaningful difference to India's future in the internet and tech space including a thriving start up eco-system to make India the next Silicon Valley. Following skills will be valuable

- Macro and micro understanding of the internet and technology sector

- Experience of working with Indian internet/tech entrepreneurs

- Strong networking ability to be able to garner industry partnerships and mobilize industry linkages to fulfil objectives of the Association

- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders including government bodies, public relations, etc. to ensure successful advocacy of Indian internet firms' objectives

- Understand public policy advocacy strategies & modus-operandi to manage related issues

- Excellent communication skills

Profile

- 10-20 years of work experience in the internet/technology sector as an entrepreneur/consultant and investor

- Ideal candidate will have

- IIT/IIM/ISBx background with very strong academic record and credentials.

- Experience in the internet/tech space in multiple roles (as consultant/entrepreneur/investor)

- Ex McKinsey/BCG/Bain experience or experience in think tanks/legislative research will be an advantage

- Age: Late 30s to mid 40s
