Director - Finance - Ratan Tata backed e-comm Startup

Founded by a former Google employee with experience in building global products and running sales across Asia, the company is an e-commerce company specializing in B2B procurement of industrial products. The business model of the company got further validation when Mr. Ratan Tata picked up a stake in it. It has also raised a pre-Series A funding from Accel Partners and Jungle Ventures. The funds are being used to enhance the technology platform, build a deep supplier base as well as increase marketing spends across Asia.

As a Director of Finance, you will be responsible for all the finance and accounts functions of the organization. You will lead the entire finance and compliance vertical for the organization taking care of Taxation, Treasury, MIS, Statutory Audit/Compliance, International Duty/Taxation and much more. Your Key Responsibilities include:

Manage compliance on indirect Taxation with focus on GST implementation.

Internal financial controls over financial reporting in line with regulations

Financial reporting to management and internal/external auditors (IGAAP / IFRS)

Taking care of all direct and indirect taxation matters in online as well as enterprise business

Proactively engage with senior leadership team to update (MIS) on monthly financial results and highlight exceptions observed

Working capital management by focusing on debtors and creditors on regular basis and following up with the business team

Efficient and timely reporting to enable decision making through analysis & risk mitigation strategy

Operational accounting to ensure that the team delivers on customer experience and operational controls

Ensuring the statutory compliance like TDS returns, VAT/GST returns, SOX compliance, Employee Salary etc.

Preparation of Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheet on timely basis for internal control and reporting

Automation of payable and receivable with help of tech team to create a seamless seller/vendor experience

Negotiation with payment partners, Banks, NBFCs for all kinds of financial association

Candidate Profile:

CA+CS or CA+MBA with 6-8 years of robust experience in similar domain

Candidate should have excellent track record with high exposure to complex taxation scenarios

Willingness and interest in working in a startup taking complete ownership and driving fast results

Someone who can set up systems and processes in a fast growing business environment

Enthusiastic and entrepreneurial (building from scratch) with a hands-on approach of doing things

High attention to details and willingness to do everything at his/her own with little or no help

Good analytical skills and in-depth understanding of taxation and treasury functions

Should have sufficient understanding of proposed GST legislation in India and corresponding process changes required to implement the same.
