Director - Data Governance & Security - Investment Banking

Looking for a senior professional for a Data Governance Lead within the Risk Division of a leading Investment Bank

- Collaborate within the internal governance team, IB and PB to Influence and implement a firm-wide data governance framework incorporating best practices and industry standards.

- The framework should ensure that the data assets across the Bank are clearly defined, owned, stewarded, distributed and consumed in accordance with the firm's data governance policy, principles and best practices. A big part of the framework will also be to draft, socialize and issue a firm-wide Data Governance policy.

- Drive the implementation & adoption of standard data governance tools & promote education/awareness of Data Governance

- Drive formalized agreements around ownership, golden sources and quality standards of key data attributes working with the appropriate divisions/data functions within the bank.

- Track compliance to the Data Governance policy, data standards and assess the risk & cost of non-compliance

- Move the dial- in significantly improving the quality of data & demonstrate via Data Quality metrics

- Collaborate and engage actively with the other divisions within the bank (IB, PB, Audit, IT) in aligning data governance priorities. Participate in the IB/PB Data Governance Councils and provide visibility on key issues, business drivers, success measures & overall progress.

- Actively drive the definition aspects of data governance (e.g. business glossary, meta-data etc) working in conjunction with the respective definition/architecture functions that will be responsible for execution.

- Proven track record (15+ years) as a strong program manager and influential change agent in banking and financial services, preferably investment banks

- Significant experience with enterprise-wide data initiatives and working with complex banking data and systems infrastructures

- Knowledge of investment banking data management issues and challenges presented by changes in the regulatory environment

- Understanding of business process and data modeling

- Ability to create scorecards and senior management dashboards to demonstrate benefits of a successful data governance program

- Experience in senior stakeholder management and taking the interface role to align business and IT

- Knowledge of IT development and data management and change processes, including user requirements specification and testing

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Ability to work in an international multi-cultural environment

- Ability to build and motivate teams to deliver quality results on time

Preferred:

- Prior experience in establishing & leading Data Governance initiatives

- Ability to assess operational risk impact of data errors
