Dharma Life - Chief Financial Officer (10-15 yrs)

Dharma Life is looking to recruit an individual for the position of Chief Financial Officer to build and lead the organisations finance function into the next phase of expansion, following exponential growth over the last five years. She/he will report to the CEO.

Dharma Life has improved over 2 million lives through its innovative business model which has enabled access to clean energy, drinking water and cooking solutions, balanced nutrition, health and hygiene products and consumer durables. By 2020, we aim to reach 50 million consumers through a network of 100,000 Dharma Life entrepreneurs.

Role summary:

- The Chief Financial Officer will lead finance strategy and execution, focussing on providing business insight, supporting decision making and facilitating efficient use of financial resources, whilst ensuring full compliance and accurate reporting.

- The CFO will build a strong, dynamic finance function, able to support and guide the business towards achieving the Dharma Lifes 2020 vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Lead Dharma Lifes finance function, providing senior guidance and advice throughout the business, developing the function to be fit for ambitious growth

- Own Dharma Lifes strategic financial planning collaborating with all parts of the business to form coherent, ambitious business plans

- Transform and oversee appropriate, insightful management information systems and reporting to support business decision making

- Develop long term capital and fundraising strategies, negotiating credit lines, corporate structures and positioning the organisation to a wide range of investors

- Coach and manage a small team of finance professionals, developing their professional capabilities and building an expert finance department

- Become a valued business partner with thorough understanding of business operations and build a reputation for finding pragmatic, enabling finance solutions

- Champion effective management of working capital cycle to ensure all financial resources are used efficiently throughout the business

- Design and institutionalize flexible business processes at all levels and implement effective and transparent internal control and monitoring systems

- Create mechanisms for and facilitate business opportunity appraisals, including cost benefit analysis, return on investment, opportunity cost and capital allocation mechanisms

- Drive and oversee all financial accounting, record keeping, statutory, tax and regulatory reporting and compliances, and all relevant audits

- Develop an ERP and technology enabled finance environment, working with the CTO to develop world class systems fit for the next stage of Dharma Lifes growth

Travel Requirement:

- You should be able to travel within and outside country as required in order to meet vendors, key stakeholders and other Dharma Life team members, as per business necessity

Desired Skills and Experience:

- CA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent

- Masters degree in commerce from a recognised institute

- Minimum of 12 years finance experience, at least 4 years in senior management

- FMCG/Channel/distribution exposure or new start up experience in any sector

- Experienced in all aspects of financial management, accounting and regulatory reporting

- Experience in financial strategy formulation and implementation, P&L and budget management and designing management information, including working capital

- Experience using and managing ERP working environment, with preference for SAP

- Thorough understanding of processes, controls and Indian regulatory environment

- An entrepreneurial spirit comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change and able to troubleshoot independently while continually improving processes

- Strategic leader developing controls needed for a growing organisation but keeping agility and responsiveness to support an innovative and fast moving organisation

- Experienced in building diverse teams, empowering team-members, and driving toward results and accountability. Ability to build strong relationships, to forge and maintain alliances.

- Excellent standard of written and verbal communication - Hindi and English
