Dharma Life is looking for a State Head of Sales to help shape and scale their impact across state. Dharma Life is an award-winning social enterprise that equips, trains and mentors people in villages to become entrepreneurs and sell a range of products and services that benefit the wider community.

Reporting to the Head of Sales, in this role you will responsible for expanding our rural network across state. It will be your role to manage state teams and coordinate efforts to empower village-level entrepreneurs to become socio-economic change-agents across their communities. As part of this you will be driving all channel partnerships, strategy and financial management for the region. You will be an integral part of our team, helping us reach our 2020 vision of building a 100,000 strong network of Dharma Life entrepreneurs.

Target salary: Range is 7-10 L CTC - based on previous experience and subject to customary increases on joining

Location : Based in Indore/Bhopal, with frequent travel across rural Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Detailed Responsibilities

Before we start, here is some of the lingo: Within Dharma Life, this State Head role is defined as the Area Sales Manager (ASM). You will be managing a team of Territory Channel Managers (TCMs), and Enterprise Leaders (ELs), who in-turn will be the first point of contact for our MFI branches/centres and rural network. The Area Sales Manager will lead and manage Dharma Life in the assigned state, supporting business vertical sales head in developing and executing Dharma Life's business plan. She/he will lead sales strategy and execution, focussing on profitability and operational efficiency, be accountable for team building, management and financial performance, nurture partnerships and build a strong organisational culture.

Drive Sales across State

- Drive sales performance, coordinate with channel partners to meet sales goals, educate them about product portfolio and services offered, address partner related issues, sales conflicts and pricing issues in a timely manner, manage sales pipeline, forecast monthly/quarterly sales and identify new business opportunities.

- Ensure BTL activities and village level activities to support the EL

Identify, train and develop Territory Channel Managers (TCMs), Enterprise Leaders (ELs) to maximise their impact on the ground with Consumers Dharma Life Entrepreneurs (DLEs):

- Manage branch level team for co-ordination of product sales and services across cluster of MFI branches.

- Identify and develop new Enterprise Leaders (ELs), and in turn support ELs to identify and expand the Dharma Life reach

- Train TCMs, and ELs to understand Dharma Life's business, products, processes and provide them support and knowledge to work independently

- Support ELs in strengthening village-level network by ensuring training and development of DLEs

Drive partnerships and negotiations:

- Network set-up of Micro Finance Institution (MFI) Branch. Aligning product loaning at partner MFI branches, appointing Stockists, inventory set up, hiring of local resource at branch-EL, training/aligning MFI branch team

- Manage and develop our existing network of business/channel partners

- Identify and explore new channels partnership opportunities to enhance market penetration and reach

- Drive negotiation with branches to increase visibility of our products and overall sales

Execution of strategic sales planning and financial management for the region:

- Deliver strategic sales plans that result in Dharma Life meeting its social and business objectives

- Help in building a diversified product portfolio focused on high margins and a high quality value proposition to entrepreneurs and customers

- Inventory management by branch.

- Branch and product wise target planning and driving achievement

- Deliver efficient financial management with established objectives, plans, budget, finance, accounting, and commercial policies

Does this sounds like you-

Extensive industry and regional experience:

- 5-8 years of sales & marketing experience

- Experience from top organisations in FMCG, consumer goods or service sectors

- Preference will be given to experience across rural sales

- Post graduate in management from a premier school. Not a mandatory requirement.

- Local knowledge and a strong local network

A natural innovator, with a strong track-record of leading a team to deliver results:

- High performing multi-tasker who is comfortable managing multiple projects

- Problem solving approach, responsive, learner who can roll up the sleeves and get the work done.

- Proven track record of successfully building, coaching, guiding and managing a team

- Strong analytical ability to solve problems in creative manner and make decisions

A dynamic collaborator and communicator, who can switch between - coaching- vs. - negotiating- :

- Extensive experience coaching, mentoring and motivating teams

- A dynamic professional with excellent business sense and strong negotiation skills

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations

A proficient communicator in English/Hindi & Gujarati/Kannada/Malayalam

Comfortable with regular travel to remote rural locations and passionate about working for bottom of the pyramid consumers
