Import Export Sr Advisor- Chennai, India
 
- Ensures strict compliance with regional import/export compliance regulations. Provides trade compliance support for end to-end order management and delivery processes including end user screening, new product and technology export reviews, Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) and Export Classification Control Number ECCN) product classification, export transaction approvals, international documentation, and customs broker management.

- Provides strategic and tactical support in developing, enabling, and managing international supply chains. Develops metrics containing international supply chain, non freight landed costs such as import duties and taxes, customs brokerage fees, and customs clearance fees. Develops and implements strategies to reduce import expenses through leverage of international trade programs and customs regulations. Audits import and export documentation and electronic filings to insure compliance to trade regulations and policies.
 
Role Responsibilities

- Import and Export clearances

- Customs classification and valuation with relevant notifications

- Interaction with S V B on valuation acceptance and documentation thereon

- Knowledge on Self-assessment process and post clearance audit

- Front ending audits and interaction with customs

- Complete Knowledge on STPI, SEZ provisions in relation to import, export and other relevant rules and documentation

- Provisions related to Legal Metrology (MRP labels) and its relevance to customs.- Import and Export clearances
 
Requirements

- 8+ years of experience in direct import and/or export compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm.

- Demonstrated skills in resolving complex compliance/business requirements

- Strong analytical skills, be detailed oriented, and possess the ability to anticipate problems and diffuse situations

- Strong project management and computer skills (emphasis on Microsoft Office programs) is required

- Fluency in English language is required, additional fluency in one or more local non-English language(s) is preferred.

- The ability to function both as a team and individual player with the ability to shift priorities as required by the global trade compliance team and business operations

Preferences

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.

- Advanced degree in business, law, or government affairs preferred.
