Data Scientist - Hadoop - BFSI (6-15 yrs)

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Design, manage and automate data ingestion into the Hadoop cluster from multiple credit bureaus supporting varied data formats and files.

2. Develop a strong understanding of the bureau data structures, identify key data points and trends and develop storyboard/visualizations to communicate analysis.

3. Write MapReduce/Pig/Hive code to perform above analysis to convert data into insights and reports in a fast and efficient manner.

4. Perform quick and ad-hoc analysis on specific segments to identify opportunity areas for new products and feasibility analysis.

5. Design an entity linkage framework that will integrate multiple data sources into the Data Lake by creating mappings across data sources to provide a single comprehensive view of customers.

6. Interact with multiple internal stakeholders to provide a fast and scalable analytics environment on top of the data lake. Support product teams to run analysis, generate insights and create interesting data visualizations.

Skills and Competencies:

1. Good understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem with strong knowledge of writing programs in MapReduce, Pig and Hive.

2. Strong command of a general purpose programming language like Java or Python with good knowledge of working with SQL.

3. Experience in managing Hadoop clusters with the ability to create automation scripts in any language to schedule and run long-running jobs.

4. Strong analytical skills with prior experience in data warehousing, working with large and complex datasets, preferable in baking/ financial services domain.

5. Experience working on visualization tools like Tableau, d3.js or other BI tools.

6. Good communication skills to understand requirements clearly and convey results to top management.
