Credit Suisse - AVP - Sourcing & Vendor Management (7-9 yrs)

Sourcing & Vendor Management (SVM) is a global team of 120+ professionals. Our mandate is focused on sourcing and promoting closer working relationships between our department, business partners and key vendors in order to collectively provide more efficient and commercial valued sourcing and vendor management services to the bank.

This position is aligned to the Professional Services (PS) team, which is responsible for management of the following expense lines:

- Outsourced services

- Consulting services

- Legal services

- Audit services

- The core mandate of this team is to establish a vendor strategy to source more strategically, and to develop and implement bank-wide demand and supply efficiency strategies and initiatives within the professional services domain.

SVM PS is a global team made up of 20+ professionals and divided into five operational sub-groups. The primary focus of this role is within the Audit, Tax, Financial and Strategic Consulting area and it includes responsibilities in both Sourcing and Global Audit / Independence Compliance. The team lead for this group is based in Zürich; one other member of the team is located in Pune.

We Offer:

This role includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

- Tactical execution of individual sourcing projects primarily in the Audit, Financial Consulting and Tax areas.

- These mandates will chiefly be sourced with Tier 1 suppliers, in particular Big 4 firms.

- Handling of sourcing initiatives - supplier selection and execution of RFPs

- Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and stakeholders

- Identification and realization of saving potentials

- Optimization of supply management processes

- Providing analysis and support for large sourcing projects covered by SVM-PS: data analysis, preparation for negotiations, benchmarking of terms, discounts and rates.

- Support team in maintaining and analyzing vendor dossiers to enhance strategic vendor sourcing.

- Benchmarking of vendors and internal spend analysis. Vendor research and tracking is part of this role; coordination and communication amongst SVM-PS and other teams is essential.

- Global Audit / Independence Compliance:

- Monitor audit firm independence through CS internal System for Accounting Firm Engagements (SAFE). This is an important compliance function supporting the Audit Committee and their governance mandate. This role will the back-up systems administrator for SAFE (primary administrator also based in Pune).

- Serve as part of the CS “Expert Desk” for questions regarding auditor independence and the respective CS global policy.

- The candidate is expected to work closely with the team and sometimes may be required to assist with other processes or tasks within the team’s responsibilities.

- Qualified Chatered Accountant

- Negotiation and contracting skills - ability to challenge assumptions and develop alternative solutions

- Knowledge of audit, tax and financial consulting domains including understanding of the audit process, firm structures and staffing (Big-4 primarily), range of professional services.

- Expertise in corporate governance domain in particular with auditor independence requirements (SEC)

- Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and with executive and Partner level professionals at external firms

- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and ability to co-operate effectively across time zones and cultures

- Computer literacy, including strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

- Motivated to work with a high degree of independence

- Analytical, inquisitive and a high level of attention to detail

- Committed to meeting deadlines and producing accurate work under pressure

- Able to prioritize efficiently in order to deal with ad hoc urgent items

- Global orientation and proactive approach

- At least five years of experience in finance and/or sourcing of professional services; ideally, in an audit or financial advisory role at one of the Big 4 Audit Firms or within a supply management function at a financial services firm

- Experience / understanding of financial statement preparation process, related regulatory reporting and the audit/ review process

- Experience of contracting with emphasis on professional services - in particular Audit services, including scoping, pricing and negotiation

- Understanding of standard legal / contracting terminology, terms & conditions

- Understanding of corporate governance requirements and knowledge of audit firm independence requirements, such as those outlined by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the US

- Computer literate and international orientation

- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Finance or similar

- Chartered Accountant or Corporate Secretary

- Professional qualification / specialization in Supply Management

- Experience with SAP E-Sourcing / MyShop systems (applicable for internal candidates)

- Proficiency in German

- Systems administration

- Help desk service
