Job Title : Head - Functional Academy
Reports to : Head - Learning & Development
Function : Human Resource
Sub-function : Learning & Development
Job Purpose :
- As a thought leader, owns and drives Cipla's agenda of technical and functional capability building, by setting up functional academies as per the defined process and guide their operations on a sustained basis and ensure that the business value of functional academies are derived
Key Accountabilities :

- Ensure functional academies are set up in all specified areas as per the target time line
Major Activities/Tasks :
- Guide the launch of academies by having a clear launch plan and glide path
- Ensure required resources are on board for an academy to go live
- Support in socializing the launch plan with all key stake holders in that domain
- Check that the requirements are fulfilled as per the charter
- Give go ahead for launch and ensure launch as per specified guidelines
- Drive effective governance of academies by ensuring robust functioning of the academy councils
- Ensure that the right and required members are a part of the council
- Drive regular council meetings and monitor implementation post meetings
- Support all functional academies in their on-going operations
- Interact with business leaders on a regular basis to obtain and sustain their continued sponsorship
- Extend support with respect to resources - budget, infrastructure, human resource etc. where needed
- Design support through central pool of instructional designers to academy
- Branding & communication support through the operations team, offer branding and communications support for all academy interventions
- Review and monitoring of academies on a regular basis as well as effective operation of the governance council
- Conduct monthly reviews based upon the MIS to identify areas of strength and improvement and offer support
- Create an academy lead's forum to facilitate knowledge sharing amongst them
- Support academy leads in conducting domain specific interactions (eg. all HR/L&D members in particular domain area) to ensure effective partnership between the design and execution entities
- Build and manage the L&D team to ensure top class deliverables
- Ensure that there is a capable and effective team in academies and embedded team members
- Focus on their capability building on a regular basis and have a development plan in place
- Introduce new methodologies and best practices with respect to design and delivery and orient the team to the same
- Periodical refreshers and sessions to keep the team up to date with respect to L&D functional skills
- Drive the agenda of building technical leadership for the organization
- Support in deepening technical / functional capabilities at a strategic level, of senior functional leaders as well as those identified for such positions through succession planning process
- Partner with external institutes, both domestic as well as international, for this purpose
- Drive the cross functional capability building process
- Identify areas for cross functional capability building process in line with the strategic priorities of the organization
- Design and execute cross functional capability building programmes
- Drive synergies by focusing on One Cipla in driving the learning agenda
- Identify areas for collaboration and synergy through periodical sharing and review process
- Ensure seamless implementation of the same
Educational qualifications : Management degree from a premier institute
Relevant experience :
- Minimum 10 - 12 years of work experience in which 5 - 7 years to be in L&D, exposure to functional / technical capability building is important
Other capabilities :
- Overall understanding of business (pharma preferred)
- In-depth understanding of L&D processes & frameworks, with specific reference to functional capability building
