We are currently retained by an Education client that has made a mark for itself in being pioneers in education. This is for a COO role based out of Chennai.

The company is looking for a professional with an entrepreneurial bent of mind--who is sharp with numbers, has done P&L management, has a flair for sales and marketing and is a people person. The role requires someone who is target driven and someone who has a passion for education. If you have been associated with a startup where you were handling the P&L that would be an added advantage especially if you were able to scale up the organization.

To qualify you :

- Must have had at least 5 years of experience in a senior managerial position with P&L responsibility of a SBU

- Must have been involved in strategic planning, setting and achieving targets on revenue and cost sides of a SBU.

- Must have handled management functions related to sales, marketing, finance, HR, legal, manufacturing and logistics functions in an organization

- Experience in the education industry highly desirable

- Experience in B2B and B2C products highly desirable

- Experience in working with Government agencies desirable

- Candidates with strong entrepreneurial instincts are needed. People looking for a corporate MNC role--this is a company that is scaling up and therefore comes with its share of startup culture.

- You must be a hands-on manager.

- Excellent spoken and written communication skills and presentation skills

- Ability to mentor and manage individuals and teams

- Extremely committed and driven to achieve goals

- Passion for education and social empathy a must

- A strong background in the use of technology preferred

- Will handle all operational functions relating to the enterprise, primarily related to Sales, Marketing and Finance.

- Will be responsible to deliver on short and medium term business plan targets including P&L.
