About our Client - Our client is a European based MNC and a well known name in the luxury goods sector. Reputed for their dynamic multicultural environment, our Client is looking for a individual to head the finance practice in India. The Group's strategy has been to diversify its geographical operations, and India has been a clear target for investment in recent years and continues to be a focus for future growth. This strategy has also provided with Group with a clear long term competitive advantage.

Job Description : Reporting locally to the India Country manager and globally to the CFO and COO at HQ, the CFO will be responsible for the smooth functioning of the India operations.

- A consultant and adviser to the Brand CFOs and global decision makers, the CFO guides them in solving problems while ensuring all policies and regulations (local and global best practices) are followed. The aim would be to provide strategic support from a finance standpoint working closely with the Country Manager, Brand managers and other departmental heads responsible for support functions.

- Transparency is key to this role and it is the CFO's responsibility to manage the reporting lines with the key decision makers in the global HQ and the Brands thus generating a productive and effective work environment. What will help succeed in this role is the relationship between the India CFO & its stakeholders - be in Brand Managers, Department heads or Board Of Directors. The emphasis is on balance - between generating a best practice mentality and ensuring business is not hampered.

- On a day to day basis, the CFO will also provide both operational and strategic support related to all business operations in including accounting, treasury and financial reporting and analysis

The Successful Candidate:

- This is a role where there are some technical aspects which are really important to the success of the position but the interpersonal requirements and communication skills are the ones which are 'non-negotiable'

- The candidate would be a pragmatic and solution oriented individual with at least 12 to 15 years of experience as Finance Director or Finance Controller within a large multinational company

- Individuals who have demonstrated an ability to balance the various needs of several stakeholders and can effectively build business relationships, negotiate and persuade will be a good fit. Hands on experience in operations and those coming from FMCG/ retails or luxury sector would be an added advantage.
