Purpose Of Role:

- The role holder is responsible for providing effective support of projects/ operational support tasks, dealing with all relevant issues independently, technically leading a small team.

- He/she provides support in the formulation of technology, systems and information strategy and evolution plans and operational support policies and procedures.

- The role holder ensures meeting business objectives, solving business problems and furthering business success by applying industry, applications and technical knowledge through the definition of high level solutions on projects or the development of operational processes and procedures.

- The role holder should leverage the experience of the relevant BT wide professional communities to discharge these responsibilities, thus ensuring knowledge sharing extends beyond the functional boundary of the role. The role holder may also play a key part in the BT wide professional communities.

Key Responsibilities:

- To lead the delivery of projects on time with good quality.

- To lead operational support tasks as well as support negotiations.

- To drive transformation strategy for a technology discipline in own area of expertise.

- Would normally implement & lead on a large scale complex project to achieve required business benefits and manage to budget, timescales and quality.

- Could be responsible for direct line managing senior developers.

- To contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

- To ensure operational procedures are in place, maintained and followed as appropriate.

- To arrive at cost/timescale solutions/options and manage expectations as appropriate with customer or Business Unit/LoB teams and may have responsibility for setting up work packages.

- Will involve in liaising with internal, external and third party suppliers.

- To personally participate in and contribute to BT wide professional community activities where applicable e.g. knowledge sharing, best practice within BT and external industry.

- To use the relevant BT wide professional community framework to raise their skills and those of their team to the recommended PC standards.

- Ability to impact the business by influencing decisions through advice/quality of work produced by self/others.

- Able to maintain a reputation for quality and delivery of their expertise to the business.

- Assists in the definition of strategy and evolution and associated infrastructure investments for Group/LoB.

- Responsible for engineering delivery plans for a small project.

- Assists with the transformation strategy for a network, platform or technology discipline in own area of expertise.

Skills/Experience:

Must be very strong at:

- Advanced Java/J2EE

- Spring

- Hibernate

- Maven / Gradle

- Junit

- REST framework

Should have good knowledge of:

- Some app server like Tomcat / Oracle WLS

- Unix / Shell scripting

- Continuous Integration (JIRA) & Jenkins

- Javascript / JQuery / Angular JS

- Database / PLSQL

Nice to have:

- HTML5

- CSS

- Bootstrap

- FTL

- Exposure to Selenium or some other test automation framework

Telecom Domain knowledge would be an added advantage

Education:- BE/ B Tech / ME/ M Tech
