Subject Matter Expert

- Develop and implement models including predictive models in a commercial environment to identify problem scenarios and analytic solutions to find opportunities

- Consult with Senior researchers to establish innovative statistical techniques using available data sources to achieve business wide goals and objectives

- Provide analytical expertise to internal and external customers utilizing various statistical techniques to resolve or support isolated problem scenarios

- Responsible for evaluating all aspects of developing and maintaining long term strategic platforms for supporting data mining applications

- Oversee, develop and train staff and consultants. Provide direction and
assistance on an ongoing basis to ensure group has knowledge and technical experience to execute against stated agenda

Data Comprehension:

- Understand the business/research question and accurately determine which data elements would be appropriate for inclusion in analysis and what type of analysis would be appropriate for addressing the business/research question

- Understand the nuances and caveats associated with data elements based on the source of the data

- Understand what types of analyses is appropriate for specific data elements or sets of data elements

- Pro-actively propose analytical approaches to help address business/research questions

Data Processing/Analytics:

- Manipulate data using cross-tabulation programs, statistical packages, Microsoft Excel, and/or other database applications to produce appropriate and accurate analyses as required

- Work with cross-tabulation software to develop appropriate banners, filters, new variables, etc. to produce data tables that can provide answers to business/research objectives – by either using point-and-click interfaces or by writing programming logic

- Work with data in Microsoft Excel formats to conduct appropriate tabulation and statistical analysis, including pivot tables to address business/research questions

- Work with statistical packages to conduct advanced multi-variate analyses to address business/research questions

- Identify appropriate data sub-sets or segments from larger parent databases for segment-based analytics

- Develop expertise in proprietary databases and syndicated data sources to pull data accurately as needed to answer business/research questions

Analysis/reporting:

- Develop analytic plans with assistance from senior executives to address research objectives

- Assist internal/external stakeholders in understanding the nuances of data, analytics, as well as in interpretation of the findings

- Present data and analysis results using an appropriate combination of tables, charts, and text to help in easy and accurate interpretation of results

Project management:

- Implement appropriate quality assurance procedures to check the accuracy of data tables, analytics, and any data related outputs

- Participate in project process/scheduling

- Regular communication with internal or external client as needed

- Understand and communicate internal/external client needs/issues to relevant team members

- Effectively and pro-actively communicate with internal/external clients, team members, vendors/partners to ensure successful project execution

General:

- Identify process improvement opportunities and suggest solutions

- Assist in the training and development of junior team members as needed

Share learning and coach/mentor team members as needed

Experience:

- Graduate degree in marketing research, business/marketing, statistics, econometrics, or related field with 5-7 years of work experience (preferably on vendor side) with exposure to statistical analysis, and database manipulation

- MS in quantitative discipline - Statistics, Math, Operations Research, or advanced social science degree in an experimental field (Psychology, Sociology). MBA or other advanced degree is a plus

- Tier 1 college education

- Experience working in Tier 1 companies

Skills:

Tools and Techniques:

- Experience working with statistical analysis packages such as SPSS, SAS, etc. Expertise in running common bi-variate and multi-variate statistical analyses

- Solid experience in working with cross-tabulation packages such as Quantum/Quanvert/WinCross/SPSS Tables

- Expert level experience with Microsoft Excel and Pivot Tables

- Ability to build tables and charts in MS PowerPoint
