Silverpeople has been mandated to find 'BD Manager(Online)' for a fast growing eCommerce company that sells insurance online. They are mainly into auto insurance, home, life, travel and health insurance. The founders are from MICA and IIT respectively who have experience in insurance and technology industries.
The firm received series A funding of $2 Million followed by $12 million series B funding in April 2015. They have about 300 employees and are growing 40% month-on-month. The firm got an IRDA direct broker licence in early 2014 and it has been almost 18 months since it started functioning operationally.
The firm is based out of Mumbai and and has now a team of about 300 people working towards the time when online insurance space hits an inflection point. The company has grown 400% over the last 6 months and the current rate is 40% month-on-month. There is a support team of 100 people which works to make sure that people have a clear understanding of the policies. They have a claims team as well which has the licences to act as an official intermediary for a customer to make claims. It also has a 50-member technology team and the rest of the team looks at various areas like product, business, sales and vertical experts.
