About IBMO : Investment Banking Middle Office.

The primary Job of IBMO is to manage the risk on T+1 by performing various reconciliation, control reports and monitoring various exception Queues. We play a key role in ensuring the FO P&L is in line with BO P&L.

Overall purpose of role :

- Producing and reviewing reconciliation reports from key reconciliation systems

- Allocating ownership of breaks to key stakeholders

- Performing manual reconciliation where there is no systemic process

- Following up with break owners to clear the break as soon as possible, escalating where necessary to mitigate risk

- Require intensive contact with on-shore middle office teams, as well as Front Office personnel for break investigation and break resolution.

- Clearing breaks from key reconciliation reports from key reconciliation systems

Key Accountabilities :

- Breaks can occur for various reasons and in every process of life cycle of the trade.

- Therefore the candidate is required to have good understanding Cash Eq products and front to back knowledge of the order flows. The expectation is that the candidate will become a subject matter expert for all the equity flows within Barclays.

- The role will also require close contact with various Ops teams and Front office, so the ability to communicate issues/breaks with reasoned and detailed argument is essential.

- MIS production of breaks and trending will be required with the candidate needing to understand the trending, so that they may liaise with IT to fix systemic issues.

- This is a challenging role in a high volume environment with prioritised deadlines.

- The role is suitable for candidates with excellent written and verbal communication.

- Good knowledge of cash equity product

- Excellent problem solving skills, strong numeric skills, analytical and objective thinking to mitigate risk within the equity product

- An organized individual with good time management, prioritising tasks and able to meet competing deadlines across the suite of reconciliation within the Middle Office.

- Ability to coordinate with various teams to action items, owning issues and leading solutions.

- Mature in thought as well as in communications.

- Flexible and professional under pressure

- Ability to contribute and challenge to improve performance and at the same time be able to communicate with peers and other senior members of the team, as well as senior stakeholders and Front Office

- Degree level or appropriate industry qualifications with experience within a similar / comparable banking environment

- Knowledge and experience of reconciliation in the cash equity area.

- Knowledge of the front to back process in an environment of investment banking

- Understand operational risks

- Passionate about continuous improvements

- Excellent spoken and written English.

- Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.g. IT, MO, FO, Ops Control.

- Detailed and meticulous, high level of accuracy with low tolerance for error

Decision-making and Problem Solving :

- Well rounded knowledge and experience of equity derivatives middle office or trade support

- A strong understanding of the front to back process in an environment of investment banking

- Understanding of operational risks and ability to make timely escalation

- Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.g. IT, MO, FO, Ops Control.

- Strong working knowledge of MS office Suite, specifically Excel

Working knowledge of key systems: Markitwire, Sophis, Summit, Delta 1, Monet, Imatch, FISS, Bytes, Bloomberg,
