Department Overview:

The primary Job of IBMO is to manage the risk on T+1 by performing various reconciliation, control reports and monitoring various exception Queues. We play a key role in ensuring the FO Pnl is in line with BO Pnl.

Overall purpose of role

- Reconciliation for the Equities & Equity Derivatives Group (EDG)

Oversee the production, investigation, and resolution of different reconciliation reports (FOFO, FOBO, external, intersystem)

Analysis of trade discrepancies within reconciliations and assign breaks to relevant Middle Office teams according to required SLA- s

Liaise / escalate to Front office, middle office, and Settlements teams to resolve trade breaks

Act as a deputy for manager providing coverage during EMEA hours, facing off to senior stakeholders in London / NY teams for escalations

Investigate and analyse the root cause of delays or incorrect running of complex reconciliations

Communicate delays and details of the complex issues around reconciliations during EMEA hours to global counterparts

Negotiate revised deadlines on SLA's as required

Work with global Middle office teams and technology to resolve urgent issues, making decisions independently

Follow up with external brokers for settlement and trade breaks

Ensure trade bookings are correct and rectify discrepancies on same day

Identify, escalate, and control gaps

Implement control agenda

Involve in broker account opening process and follow up with broker to obtain relevant documents

- Query Management

Address and respond to, in a timely manner, issues stemming the reconciliation duties

These interactions will be with a wide range of areas, both from front office (Sales and Trading) and back office partners

Key Accountabilities

- Act as the global face off & first point of escalation during EMEA hours, managing any issues raised by the EMEA / New York teams around the reconciliations produced

- Address any complex queries raised and work with global counterparts to resolve these queries, taking any autonomous decisions as needed

- Articulate in a concise manner the details of issues faced in the EMEA working hours to global colleagues, and negotiate any revised timelines for delivery of reconciliations as needed

- Ensure all reconciliations are produced correctly and in a timely manner while managing this in a relatively manual infrastructure environment.

- Ensure all breaks / discrepancies are identified in a timely manner, provide training and support for other team members as a first point of escalation

- Work with other middle office colleagues to resolve trade mismatch and discrepancies

- The candidate is required to have a strong understanding of equity derivatives products, booking and reconciliation systems

- The role will also require close contact with various Ops teams and sometimes front office, and clients so good ability to communicate is critical to this role.

- This is a challenging role with a variety of products and a high volume, manual environment with various deadlines to meet, candidates must be able to think on their feet and identify areas for streamlining and automating processes

- The role is suitable for candidates being detail oriented with strong communication both written and verbal skills.

Person Specification

Essential experience/ qualifications / skills

- Degree level or appropriate industry qualifications with at least 5+ years within a similar / comparable banking environment. Business / Mathematical or Engineering degree preferred to understand complex derivative products, analyse technical aspects of reconciliations and work with technology to design and test new reconciliations.

- Well rounded knowledge and experience of equity derivatives middle office or trade support

- A strong understanding of the front to back process in an environment of investment banking

- Understanding of operational risks and ability to make timely escalation

- Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.g. IT, MO, FO, Ops Control.

- Strong working knowledge of MS office Suite, specifically Excel

Working knowledge of key systems: Markitwire, Sophis, Summit, Delta 1, Monet, Imatch, FISS, Bytes, Bloomberg,
