AVP - Technical Accounting Specialist - BFSI

Technical accounting specialist working closely with the regional and global team to provide accounting guidance and support to the Bank in the following areas.

- Support Finance in Asia. Work with the regional Finance teams in Asia to ensure analysis of transactions and application of accounting policies and guidance are consistently executed throughout the region. This will entail necessary liaison between various departments including Financial Control, Product Control, Group Finance London and the UK Regulatory Policy team.

- Support the design and delivery of regional technical accounting training materials to Finance colleagues, other infrastructure functions and front office. Assist in the planning, coordinating and delivery of the TAG training program in Asia (held in conjunction with UK reg policy training). TAG materials reflect the current accounting requirements, and are relevant to recipients. It requires the use of examples in the appropriate context. Delivery of training requires high standard of presentation skills.

- Review of new transactions and new products including contributing to transaction development. This includes transactions by Organisation's (e.g. lending, borrowing, derivatives, purchases, disposals, investments of businesses etc) and those entered into with and for clients. Requires obtaining a full understanding of the business rationale and transaction economics then applying to each element of the transaction the appropriate accounting requirements as per the relevant internal and external standards.

- Implementation of new accounting standards, and review and remediation as required for application of existing requirements. Demands ability to engage with colleagues in other functions to ensure that the new requirements can be translated into technical requirements that are capable of implementation within Organisation's systems.

The exact nature and degree of involvement in each of the above activities will be tailored to the individual who joins the team and will depend on his/her experience. In all the activities, the AVP will benefit from the close supervision and support of TAG colleagues, in particular the Vice Presidents and Directors within TAG. As with all other TAG members, the the AVP's activities will change over time to ensure they are exposed to a broad and varied range of technical issues with a view to building out their experience and expertise.
