Specific Job Description
The role in question is for someone to assist the Strategy team.
- Contribute in the overall team’s work-flow – ensuring that deliverables are completed accurately and on a timely basis
- Be able to learn content quickly – although investment banking experience is not a pre-requisite, the role involves researching and analysing new topics on a regular basis
- Be creative in applying knowledge and skills to research and analytics – should be able to take an issue and think around potential solutions and drive these to a conclusion
- Look to take charge of automating functions to further enhance effectiveness (e.g. creation of automatically-generated briefing documents, competitor review enhancements)
Broad scope and responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility of the team includes analysis and review of performance vis-à-vis leading Investment banks, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Provide support in preparation of various briefing documents and presentations to help senior management in their internal and external communications.
Quantitative analysis:
- Analyse quarterly performance of the leading Investment banks.
- Research is focused around the sales and trading businesses.
Major reports created on a regular basis:
- Snapshot of revenue performance shortly after banks quarterly earnings release.
- Competitor Review: Report quarterly performance of global investment banking industry. Covers revenues, costs, VaR, market performance, strategic and regulatory developments and people moves at the leading banks. Additionally, the report covers broad industry trends such as market participant and regulatory trends, plus league table rankings.
Qualitative analysis:
Monitor competitor performance on a qualitative basis. Summarise analyst reports as well as various industry reports.
Major reports created on a regular basis:
- Summary of analyst reports
- Earnings previews for competitors using new stories (in progress)
- Briefings for key market themes (in progress)
Presentation materials:
Much of the above information is synthesized for use in presentations. Provide support in creating and updating analysis for presentations, as well as creating speakers notes.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience
- Consulting background will be preferred
- Product knowledge will be an added advantage
- Excellent Excel skills, Word, Power point skills
- Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, service commitment & interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good Multitasking Skills
- Handle work pressure and organize tasks in order to meet deadlines
- MBA degree, preferably in business or other quantitative field (mathematics, engineering, etc)
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, prioritizes multiple tasks, and meets strict deadlines.
