AVP - Risk Analytics - Basel/Model Management - Bank

AVP Risk / Basel Analytics (Model Management) for an MNC Bank in Bangalore.

Description:

- Responsible for handling projects to support the modeling \ forecasting needs within the financial services portfolios for a large global bank across one or more geographical regions.

The work would primarily involve use of customer/operational data and application of statistical tools and techniques to achieve following:

- Developing statistical, Financial and judgment based models to enhance the business decision making.

- Support business functions like forecasting & reserving.

- Continuous monitoring of models \ forecasting trends in place and provide analytical recommendations for the same to the senior management.

- Model Management Team is responsible for periodic validation of models. The team manages the entire lifecycle of Model Management starting from data creation to presenting results to Model Management committees to seek approval.

- The team ensures compliance to standards per Regulators, Credit FIM and IR.

Responsibilities:

- Act as Subject Matter Expert in Model Management domain independently leading projects and working directly with business to deliver high quality output.

- Responsible for entire Model Management life-cycle starting from data pull to report creation, presenting results to business and getting approvals from requisite committees.

- Responsible for both Basel and Non-Basel Model management process.

- Deliver on new requirements like Low Default portfolio methodology, Full validation concept etc.

- Ensure timely closure of all IR findings.

- Create and revise Operations Manual clearly setting out the process of Model Management and adhering to the process.

- Drive Model Management initiatives which ensure higher efficiency (automation, training manual, white paper etc.)

- Monitoring and review of all projects with stakeholders to ensure that all stated SLAs are met.

- Work with multiple customers/functions on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver in a timely, efficient and effective manner.

- Recruit, on-board, train, coach and develop talent.

- Responsible for conceptualizing, designing and implementing QA/QC framework for identified processes and ensures adherence and constant improvement.

- Ensure adherence with all the applicable compliance policies (Data security policy, AML, operational risk, Functional manual, Group Compliance Manual, Audit recommendations, Internal Control requirements, regulatory guidelines etc.) and business standards of Organization as applicable. Take timely action on Audit comments and be able to demonstrate compliance with Internal controls.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience :

- B.Tech or Master’s degree from reputed University with concentration on finance, economics or other quantitative field such as statistics or engineering.

- Strong analytical skills with 8+ years of proven banking business analytics experience in Risk Analytics into Basel or Model Management or equivalent in Banking Industry. Knowledge and understanding of financial services preferred.

- Good knowledge of Basel and Model Management concepts

- Ownership of Model Management Lifecycle ensuring flawless completion of model validations.

- Ability to convince senior management of analysis being presented.

- Good knowledge of Modeling process for both Basel and Non-Basel (Origination, Portfolio Management, behavior etc.)

- Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyze them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework.

- Knowledge of SAS, SQL and other equivalent analytical tools.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas.

- Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success.
