Position: OTC Equity Derivative Documentation and Settlement for US Shift starting at 6:30 IST

Position - ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT

Location: Bangalore

Duties & Responsibilities: Manage multiple teams within Derivative Operations function. The AVP will be responsible to manage operations, Ensure operational risk management along with managing staff, performing administrative functions and troubleshooting. The AVP will also facilitate projects, group initiatives and exception processing resolution. Solid understanding of the Equity Derivative operations is expected, including strong knowledge of Equity Trade life cycle.

S/he will be responsible for ensuring the operations environment is run in a controlled manner, ensuring that all KPI's are achieved and delivered to the standards agreed. The job holder also needs to ensure the resources both human and technological are managed effectively to ensure that all operational risks are mitigated, there is coverage to ensure any business requirements, standard and non-standard are understood and met at all times. Job holder needs to be able to manage market-driven flows, understand the client and market needs and be able to manage the team to adapt to these to ensure delivery

Other responsibilities include cross -training, succession planning, Preparation of Management reports and contributing to departmental initiatives, and working with various departments to ensure timely and accurate processing of all activities on a daily basis within the given timelines.

- Acting as a central point of contact for all the process related issues / improvements etc.

- Building a strong mechanism to ensure seamless execution of deliveries to the clients

- Building and refining process metrics (benchmarks) by involving team and senior management

- Reviewing workflows and operating procedures to ensure that they remain up to date and implementing process improvements.

- Reviewing daily benchmark reports for each of the process lines, investigating benchmark breaches and working towards process improvements/quality enhancements

- Liaising with relevant IT teams to resolve any technical issues preventing the optimum performance of the operational processes.

- To build process documentation, define benchmarks, capacity model, baseline volumes etc. for teams managed

- Team development and motivation through strong engagement models, effective employee communication and administering reward and recognition.

- Staff performance appraisals on regular basis

- Recruitment across all levels

- Driving Process Improvement through innovation, and involvement of all.

- Conduct regular operational performance reviews

- Effectively manage risk and foster a robust control environment where team is fully aware of Operational Risk management.

- Develop strong relationship and credibility with onshore and all internal stakeholders

- Work closely with other internal/cross functional teams on upcoming projects, assignments and initiatives

- Ensure timely escalation of issues to appropriate level, to avoid any adverse impact on the business

- Assisting the team in decision making and taking complete ownership of the situation

- Work very closely with the process owners/stakeholders and other internal/External counterparts to ensure seamless delivery to the client

- Offering guidance to individual and team during business challenges

- Objective Setting and appraisal process for the team

- Effective Delegation to direct reports

- Ensure structured upward & downward communication

- Assist with recruitment and training process

- Supervise development of team members

- Provide group coverage when colleagues are out of the office

- Detailed oriented, adaptable to changes in the work environment while maintaining strong teamwork and project ownership.

- Monitor process service delivery and ensure accomplishment of ISDA/FED targets in adherence to SLAs

- Monitor volume inflow and ensure sufficient resource and workflow allocation in a justifiable manner

- Focus on high risk transactions and keep all operational guidelines updated

- Ensure adherence to standards, procedures and also identify risk mitigants wherever there is a control issue

- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external escalations

- Effectively manage risk and foster an environment where team is fully aware of Operational Risk management

- Conduct regular operational performance reviews and participate in monthly self assessments

- Develop relationship and credibility with sending location and all internal stakeholders

- Work closely with other internal teams to ensure top of the line service to clients

- Prioritize tasks and ensure adherence to timelines for completion of activities

- Assist with recruitment and training process

- Supervise and manage development of team members

- Conduct objective setting sessions, performance appraisals, provide feedback & coaching for all team members

- Must be able to multi task effectively

Experience / Requirements:

- The Ideal candidate should have Nine to Twelve years of Investment Banking operations experience of which at least 4 years of hands on experience in OTC Equity Derivative operations

- Should have strong knowledge of equity trade life cycle and on various financial products like options, forwards, equity swaps, Structured and customised equity derivatives, Etc.

- Should have at least 5 years experience of managing relatively large teams

- Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, service commitment, and solid organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to identify and develop strong working relationship with both internal and external groups

- Comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders and complex situations.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Excellent People Management Skills

- Experience of sensitive client facing roles (internal & external)

- Minimum qualification required is graduate, preferably in commerce or business management.

- Coaching and feedback ability

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

- Flexibility to work in shifts

Professional and Personal Qualifications:

University Degree or equivalent

Relevant experience with an Investment Bank or Financial Institution
