AVP - Business Finance - Insurance (8-12 yrs)

The purpose of the role is as follows:

- Lead and develop an Insurance offshore team providing analytical and decision support capability to the Group and Site Insurance Business Finance.

- Analyze business results and effectively explain all technical life insurance drivers in business commentaries.

- Production of good quality standard Global Performance reports (EXCO/Regional/Products) and other reports as required.

- Provide ad hoc analysis and decision support and developing relevant MI as required by Group and Country Business Finance and drive and support business decision making.

- Support Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and LE preparation and consolidation process.

- Build insurance technical knowledge among team members

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas

Business and Service Delivery

- Ensure high quality service delivery to provide best in class business analysis.

- Support the Insurance business with analysis on standard performance reports providing comparison v/s Plan, prior period, prior year, etc. as well as ad hoc and changing business requirements.

- Lead and deliver to analytical projects or ad hoc decision support requirements as and when needed.

- Support the Annual Operating Plan and LE preparation and consolidation process, including preparation of key assumptions, drivers and comparisons.

Collaborate with other MI and Analysis teams to share

- best practices & standardisation of analysis where possible.

Proactively manage capacity within the Analysis team to ensure optimal support to the business.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

- Supporting the Global Insurance Group and Heads of Management information in Key markets, to:

1. Be the key point of contact for Insurance Business Finance.

2. Deliver business requirements to support ad hoc decision support and analysis.

3. Build and maintain deep, supportive, productive relationships with Insurance Business Finance MI leadership in-country teams globally.

4. Drive service quality efficiency and improvement in team.

- Stakeholder satisfaction survey

Project Management

- Proactively engage with the in-country teams to understand their business requirements for analysis and ongoing change agenda.

- Ensure adequate resources are aligned to analytical projects to meet the timelines.

- Identify, resolve, and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.

- % of total number of completed projects/ tollgates met

Leadership and People Management

- Create an environment within the team which fosters knowledge sharing and open forums

- Effective communication with the team members on organisation change and goals required for the respective roles and responsibilities

- Motivate and develop (and recognise) team members in order to meet process deliverables, manage staff expectations, achieve efficiency in operations and maintain work-life balance.

- Develop the soft skills and technical competency of team by putting together personal development plans for all team members

- Ensure - key man- or concentration risk is mitigated through an equitable distribution of work.

- Ensure the team is adequately cross-trained and cover is in place for all key

- Continue to develop and enhance scale and scope of business analysis and decision support provided to the Insurance Business Finance teams.

- Work with Insurance MI teams in country to develop the analytical capability and business knowledge including through training and knowledge sharing sessions, exchange of talent on short term assignments, etc.

- Provide ongoing training and development to the Insurance team to drive capability improvement.

- Quality of Solutions

- Expansion of Service Catalogue - Additional analytical responsibilities undertaken

- Analysis and capability building training program developed

Operational Excellence and control

- Adherence to Group policies, audit, controls, and compliance requirements including but not limited to declaration of secrecy, data protection act, health, safety and security, clear desk policy

- To continually assess the operational risks inherent in the processes, taking account of changing operating procedures, staff movements, legal and regulatory requirements, management restructures, and the impact of new technology.

- Effectively drive and manage change, plan business contingency and achieve cross-training

- Ensuring BCP plan is documented, agreed with business partner and tested as per agreed timelines

- Compliance to policies

Role Context

- The role will be based at an existing location in India (Gurgaon), and will require travel both domestic and international for business meeting and key leadership forums of Group and Country Business Finance.

- High interaction and exposure to Senior Finance leadership of Insurance Business Finance, Insurance Finance Control and Business Finance teams of RBWM.

- Role would involve working individually (2/3rd) on key reports, analysis, commentaries and review and also manage small team of analysts (1/3rd).

- Person should come with good exposure in life insurance business, role would involve dealing with senior stakeholders of Business Finance as well as Finance Control. It may also involve interactions with actuaries on understanding of business drivers and for resolution of insurance technical issues related to reporting, investment and profitability.

- The incumbent is expected to build and lead the development Insurance knowledge within team, including identifying and hiring the appropriate skills and experience to the role.

- Be a part of the Business Finance leadership team that supports the other Global Businesses and Functions / Regions, with a view to share and leverage best practice in the analysis teams and identify opportunities to cross utilize capability and standardize analytical processes.

- Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

- Qualified Accountant (C.A. / C.P.A/ I.C.W.A) or MBA/M Com with over 10+ years of experience with significant functional and leadership experience.

- Prior experience of working in Life Insurance industry is must.

- Experience in Financial planning, management reporting and analysis is preferred.

- Analytical and business oriented mindset, ability to interpret financial statements, understand business drivers on both financial and non-financial operating metrics, spot and explain underlying trends, etc.

- Ability to provide analytical insight to question and challenge business assumptions.

- Ability to communicate and interact effectively, both written and verbal, with senior stakeholders in Business Finance teams.

- Exposure and understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards is desired.

- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders across geographies, time zones and cultures.

- Should have the ability to drive change and solution development in a Finance environment.

- Should be able to demonstrate flexibility to adapt and respond proactively to changing and ad hoc work requirements.

- Should be able to deliver high-quality service in shared service Finance environment.

- Strong team player, able to collaborate across teams and in-country.

- Proven ability to develop and manage teams and build analytical skills and capability.
