AVP/Assoc - Operational Risk Management

1. To adhere and tailor the Global ORM policies and guidelines to Powai / India business environment

2. To understand and implement the ORM approach as defined under global and local regulatory requirements

3. Work closely with business units in the India shared services set up as well as Clients India business entities set up covering Equity, Fixed Income and Investment Banking businesses

4. Closely manage and challenge the production of the Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) process for stakeholder units and work closely with global counterparts to ensure Op Risk information is consistent and adequately challenged

5. Manage the internal event logging process, challenging event write up, Key Risk Indicator (KRI) gathering process and ability to tie up all key 3 OR framework components together for ensuring a holistic risk view for senior management

6. To conduct the operational risk assessment/deep dive reviews for new business initiatives and existing activities

7. To participate in ad hoc operational risk related projects (e.g. information security, new process migrations etc)

8. To provide operational risk related training and convey the risk lessons to increase the risk awareness and foster a strong risk culture

9. To engage business units and support function in operation risk related matters and maintain regular dialogue

10. To work very closely with other control functions to avoid duplication of effort

11. To develop and prepare the operational risk reports for senior management and answer their queries

12. To act in proactive manner to assist the business unit and support functions to assess and manage their operational risk

13. To suggest practical recommendations to streamline and improve the internal control framework

14. To establish the best practice of operational risk management which is comparable to industry standards

Key Deliverables:

- Collation and analysis of a range of operational risk information (including RCSAs, KRIs, internal and external loss events), consolidating and developing this information into Aggregated Risk Profiles, Operational Risk Committees/Governance Forums & Risk Management Committees reports and others as required

- Production of scorecards to measure Operational Risk performance and engagement in business areas.

- Assisting with production of the ICAAP: the calculation and allocation of economic capital for operational risk including scenario analysis

- Monitoring and following up on closure of Operational Risk actions

Pre-requistes:

- Possess experience in operational risk or related functions in financial services institutions

- Possess investment banking and / or capital markets knowledge and experience

- Possess excellent prioritisation and organisation skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to short deadlines

- Prior Operational Risk framework set-up experience with a foreign bank , Captive units of foreign banks, local Indian Banks, Foreign brokerage houses etc in a multi regional co-ordination capacity - desirable

- Have strong attention to detail and produce accurate reporting

- Have excellent communication and IT skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

- Display commercial awareness and an understanding of key business priorities

- Be a self-starter and display a proactive approach

- Relevant investment and / or operational risk professional qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
