TITLE: Senior Manager

REPORTING TO: Head – BSS

BUSINESS: Aviva Life Insurance Company India Pvt. Ltd.

ROLE AND CONTEXT/NEED TO DO/NEED TO KNOW/NEED TO BE

Purpose:

- The jobholder will be responsible for managing the Applications built around the core systems for better control in operational processes and for Customers to interact with Aviva systems to manage their profile/self service. The jobholder will be responsible for change management and production support for the non-core applications.

- The jobholder will be responsible for the vendor management for the services, resource management (both on roles and off roles), TAT for production support issues and timely deliveries of the projects/initiative taken up by IT as independent initiatives or per business priorities.

- The jobholder should be flexible in working hours in case the need is to support business per requirement.

- The jobholder should have strong knowledge of Insurance industry domain and should be aware of the insurance terms and processes. Knoweldge of Life Asia and CORDYS will be an added advantage.

- The jobholder should also be proficient in multiple technical domains, preferably in JAVA and .NET. the jobholder should be hands-on on either of the technologies (JAVA preferred), yet have in depth knowledge of other technology.

Context:

The jobholder will support the IT Applications to ensure that business applications and systems continuously available and are optimally utilised with minimum or no downtime. Provide technical and strategic expertise to the team development of the applications roadmap.

Main Priorities:

- Design , Manage ,Optimize Applications

- Lead & Manage different Technologies and be proficient in various Business application domains

- Provide Technical expertise to Applications & Infrastructure teams on the current deployment and future roadmap

- Ensure Applications are up and running and are optimised for end user

- Capacity planning for storage & databases taking into consideration the business plans

- Accountable for the technical validity and interoperability of solutions

- Ensure teams are trained (internal and external) on technology processes

- Updating the Disaster Recovery Site and be responsible for the Database Replication and Application setup & configuration

Dimensions:

Direct reporting of 7-10 employees which includes contractual staff

Decision Making Authority:

On the application architecture and solution planning

Financials:

Required to operate within operating budgets

Key Outputs:

- Design, Manage, Optimise and execute projects in various technologies

- Plan & manage technology stack requirements

- Vendor and team management

- Adhere to the regulatory and Internal compliance guidelines and processes

- Accountable for the technical validity and interoperability of solutions

- Troubleshooting of all application related technical problems

- Lead a team comprising of developer s and application support executives in various technologies

- Ensure DR site is continuously in Sync with the production site and carry out periodic testing of the same

- Maintain documentation of various business applications and ensure they are up-to-date

- Accountable of appropriate usage of sanctioned licenses

- Accountable for periodic reporting and stakeholder management

Relationships:

Internal

- Interaction with Business Users, IT Infra, IT OPS & PMG teams.

External

- Vendors and service providers

Key Performance Indicators:

- Ensure applications are working to their peak and are continuously available.

- Interface for all kind of technical issues within organization

- Adherence to the guidelines

- Effective resolution and fixing of the production issues within defined TAT

- Timely and quality deliveries of projects (multiple in parallel) with minimal bugs at each delivery stage in line with quality benchmark

- Adhere to Company rule and regulations and standards

Qualifications:

M.E./ M.Tech / MCA/ MBA from a recognised university

- Proffessional course (Diploma/degree) in technology

- Knowledge of various latest technologies

- Proficient in the application development and project management.

Skills/Knowledge:

- Good Knowledge of latest technologies and Technical Architecture.

- Excellent communications and project management skills

- Sound knowledge and hands-on experience Application development in .net / Java (Java preferable) with in depth knowledge of the other technology

- Sound knowledge of web service architecture, conversant on SaaS & SoA.

- Experience in cross channel integrations

- Conversant with business Digitization technologies

- Knowledge and understanding of the infrastructure sizing and capacity

- Good knowledge of business stakeholder management

- Sound knowledge on the Information Technology industry trends.

- Good analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail

- Sound knowledge of Insurance domain and the operational processes

Experience:

- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in application development, project management, and Solution designing

Competencies:

- Good Knowledge of latest technologies and Technical Architecture.

- Excellent communications and project management skills

- Sound knowledge and hands-on experience Application development in .net / Java (Java preferable) with in depth knowledge of the other technology

- Knowledge and understanding of the infrastructure sizing and capacity

- Good knowledge of business stakeholder management

- Sound knowledge on the Information Technology industry trends.
