Overview of the Role  The Senior Finance Manager is expected to lead the 5-member Finance team at the company. He/she is responsible for budgeting, accounting, management reporting and compliance with all legal and financial aspects of the company.  Roles and Responsibilities  1. Overseeing of Annual Budgeting Process   - Liaise with various functional heads to complete detailed budgeting at the beginning of the year   - Dynamically update budgets as relevant   2. Maintenance and Review of Accounts   - Maintain accounting records in Quickbooks including the following - General ledgers - Bank ledgers - Journal vouchers - Supplier and vendor records   - Close accounts on monthly basis  - Prepare P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement as per accounting standards in a timely manner  3. Company Law Matters and Filings   - File Annual Returns including Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Account with the Registrar of Companies in Form AOC 4 and MGT 7   - Maintain statutory registers under Companies Act 2013   - Manage all regular compliance activities in relation to Board, Shareholding and other matters   - Manage RBI compliances including FCGPR filing, FLA returns etc.  - File Provident Fund on monthly basis   4. Tax Related Compliances   - Pay Service Tax, TDS, Profession Tax and VAT on a monthly basis   - File TDS Returns on quarterly basis. Issue TDS Certificates to various suppliers, employees and other parties on quarterly basis   - File Service Tax Returns on half yearly basis   - File Income Tax Returns in Form ITR-6 under the Income Tax Act, 1961 on yearly basis   5. Payroll, Expense Reimbursement and Vendor Management   - Own all activities with respect to timely disbursal of payroll in coordination with the Human Resources team   - Supervise all accounts/payment related matters such as approval of bills for payments   - Ensure timely reimbursement to employees and payment to vendors   - Ensure 100% documentation for expense proofs (invoices)   6. Management Reporting   - Create monthly reports that compare actuals vs. budget   - Analyse expenses and provide insights to CEO on how to improve profitability   7. Stakeholder Management   - Liaise with banks, legal advisors, and external partners   - Liaise with auditors to ensure completing of audit on time   - Proactively communicate observations to CEO and senior leadership  Requisite Experience   - CA Professional having 3-5 years of relevant work experience (ideally also CS)   - Experience in strategic finance, finance operations, business support, risk management and financial controls   - Should understand and have prior experience of monthly financial closing, tax and compliance activities  About Avanti   Avanti is a social enterprise established by IIT alumni in 2010 to help bright and motivated students from low income homes gain admission to India's top colleges.
