Job Description / Capsule:

- The Compensation and Benefits Manager is responsible for provision of subject matter expertise on all Compensation and Benefits matters supporting all Senior Executive Team (SET) areas in India.

- Supports the India Human Resource Director and Regional Total Reward Lead in ensuring that the Compensation and Benefits strategy, operational plans and policy in India contribute to the achievement of the Business Strategy, specifically by supporting the Total Reward Strategy.

- Works with colleagues in HR, Finance & Legal to ensure that the development & execution of the Compensation and Benefits Strategy and operational processes are a reflection of the needs of the business, its people, and Total Reward Strategy.

In addition the Compensation and Benefits manager will be responsible for:

- Managing local benefits programmes and local Compensation programmes ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and identifying areas for change to enhance impact.

- Contributing to the development of global/regional AZ compensation policy and process and provide input into strategic direction

- Leading delivery in multi-disciplinary projects, covering a number of compensation concepts, including job analysis and evaluation, salary and benefits benchmarking, Total Compensation positioning and segmentation

- Building capability within the benefits and compensation function to deliver against objectives and build the HR talent pipeline

- May support compensation activities for Senior Executives

- Supporting compliance and governance activities relating to benefits, compensation and performance management at local level

Typical Accountabilities:

Individual Accountabilities:

- Maintains understanding of external benefits and compensation environment, including changes in legal, regulatory and best practice approaches in order to inform the development of appropriate solutions for AZ

- Implements compensation and benefit strategy and operational processes through development and management of key benefit programmes in local market adhering to the Global strategy

- Reviews benefits provision, monitoring cost and financial impact of provision and considering the total compensation package when reviewing the competitiveness of package to market.

- Oversees annual benefit renewal negotiations and vendor selection/market reviews ensuring that AstraZeneca is maximising its purchasing power in leveraging local/regional/global relationships

- Works with vendors to define and achieve service level agreements

- Supports in the communication of benefit programmes both within and outside the HR team.

- Manages relationships with benefit providers.

- Reviews benefit policies and compensation practices and operational processes, ensuring adherence with regulatory, legal and best practice approaches.

- Financially plans and manages budgets for all areas of responsibility.

- Provide consultative advice for the strategic dimensions, direction and implementation of benefits provision and compensation practices in India.

- In consultation from the Regional Total Reward Lead, responsible for vendor selection and management of in-country 3rd party providers for benefits programmes in accordance with global procurement policies and standards (providers to include strategic, operational and outsourced services).

- Consults with internal clients to ensure that current and future needs of the business are being met and anticipated.

- Supports the business in commercial transactions and business change programmes.

India specific Compensation accountabilities:

- Implement annual compensation planning process across SET areas (local employees, regional office in India, Junior IA and GCO Senior leader process)

- Conduct survey data submission and market data extraction

- Develop and review benchmarking for all roles in India and tie these benchmarking to job capsules in Global Job Catalogue

- Develop and implement solutions on compensation programs such as target bonus, qualifying earnings, etc. to be in compliant to global SOP on compensation

- Implement compensation tool for all SET areas in India in 2014 (tentative)

- Drive and implement education programs in India across SET areas on building compensation capabilities for HRBP and line managers

- Work with SFE to ensure that sales incentive plan in India is in compliant to global policy

- Implement new annual bonus plan that is tied to scorecards
