LOCATION: Mumbai

Organisation Overview

ARMMAN designs and implements sustainable interventions to reduce maternal, neonatal and child mortality and morbidity in underprivileged urban and rural communities in India. It achieves this by identifying and addressing systemic gaps in both health services delivery and community health care seeking practices, by adopting a multi sector evidence based - community needs assessment- approach. Our core programs make innovative use of technology to develop viable interventions and to maximise outreach.

JOB PURPOSE

Head - Program Development will be responsible for the successful development, management and leadership of new projects & programs including development of Apps, software products, job aids and launching and implementing new programs at ARMMAN.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Projects and Program Development Leadership

- Developing a strategic plan for the Program Development vertical.

- Lead the efforts and initiatives to ideate, develop and implement new programs.

- Manage all operational aspects of the program including project and team management.

- Develop and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Act as a spokesperson of the vertical and conduct official correspondence as appropriate.

- Represent the vertical at various platforms and build the profile of ARMMAN.

Operational planning and management

- Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the vertical.

- Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for the program, and ensure continuous tracking of program activities, outputs, outcomes.

- Manage relationships with technology partners, government health officials, community organisations and other stakeholders for the successful implementation of the programs.

- Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the vertical.

- Draft and prepare procedures to implement the various policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the management as appropriate.

- Take a lead in review meetings of the vertical, actively participate in strategic and other initiatives of ARMMAN and provide support on various reportings.

Program planning and management

- Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of the vertical's programs and services.

- Ensure that the programs and services of the vertical contribute to the organisations vision and mission and reflect the priorities of the Board.

Human resources planning and management

- Determine staffing requirements for management and program delivery.

- Recruit, interview and select staff that have the right technical and personal abilities.

- Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.

- Ensure that all HR policies are being followed including Recruitment, Performance Management, etc.

- Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance.

Financial planning and management

- Work with the funding team to prepare budgets and to work towards securing adequate funding for the operations.

- Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the organisational policies.

- Ensure that all the system and processes as per the Financial Policy are followed.

- Analyse the financials of the programs and ensure that any deviations from budgets are being properly monitored.

Advocacy

- Establish and manage communications with relevant external stakeholders, such as Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI), MOGS (Mumbai Obstetrics & Gynecological Society), Indian Academy of Paediatricians (IAP) and other stakeholders, who provide operational, technical or networking support on the program.

- Establish a system for donor reporting and manage relationships with existing and potential donors.

- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other zones to help achieve the goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Masters Degree in any discipline

Experience

- 8+ years of progressive experience, preferably in the development sector

- Familiarity with technology or experience managing a technology product

Knowledge, skills and abilities

- A self-starter with strong leadership skills

- Knowledge of management principles as they relate to development sector

- Knowledge of human resources management and financial management

- Adept with project management and team management

- Excellent communication skills in English; fluency in Hindi required

- Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.

- Think Strategically: Assesses options and actions based on trends and conditions in the environment, and the vision and values of the zone.

REMUNERATION

It will be commensurate with experience and as per the current industry standards in the development sector.
