Primary Role Description

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Analytics team. The team is responsible for Analytics Consulting cross-functionally across departments such as Sales & Distribution, Underwriting, Claims, Digital, Marketing etc.

What You'll Do:

Collaborate and work closely with cross-functional business partners to identify gaps and structure problems. The incumbent will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better processes, services and products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our processes and services. Example projects would include - improve and extend the features used by our existing classifier-, - develop internal A/B testing procedures-, - build system for automated fraud detection-, etc.

You should be passionate about finding insights in large datasets, synthesizing and communicating results through story-telling, and driving practical business impact.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

- Work closely with business groups on complex and ambiguous business problems using an interdisciplinary approach.

- Understand the problem in-depth, map it using a structured approach and identify the appropriate analytical model to solve the problem

- Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

- Data mining using state-of-the-art methods

- Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed

- Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

- Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

- Need to be creative thinker and propose innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining

- Provide expertise on statistical / mathematical concepts for identified problems and provide appropriate models to solve them.

Key Requirements - Education & Certificates

- Requirements:

- Bachelor- s/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, Engineering, Computational Sciences or other quantitative field

- Preferred but not mandatory - Candidates from premier institutes such as IITs/NITs/IIITs/ISI Kolkata/St Xavier's Collegiate School/Top Colleges under Delhi University etc.

Key Requirements - Experience & Skills

- ~2 years of work experience involving quantitative data analysis to solve problems

- Must have - Rich experience in Machine Learning Techniques such as Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, SVM, Neural Networks, k-NN, Na- ve Bayes, Decision Trees, K-means.

- Must have - Good knowledge of programing languages such as Python/Java, scripting languages such as HTML, PHP, JavaScript etc.

- Must have - Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Python, NumPy, Pandas, SciKit Learn etc.

- Must have - Sound working knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint/Keynote

- Must have - Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.

- Must have - Demonstrated experience in above through projects and hackathons participation

- Good to have - Experience working with unstructured data and different formats such as JSON, XML, Images

- Good to have - Proficiency in SQL, SAS/Weka/Matlab etc.

- Good to have - Experience with data science toolkits such as R, NumPy, SciKit Learn etc. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable.

- Good to have - Experience with Tableau, Strategy consulting experience

- Good to have - Great communication skills

- Good to have - Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
