American Express - Director - US GAAP Technical Controller

Right now, we're recruiting a Director to join our Global Accounting Policy & Advisory Group (GAPA) within Controllership and to take responsibility for advising on US GAAP issues arising in our International Card Services (ICS) business and to lead our GAPA team in Gurgaon.

GAPA has proven to be an excellent entrance point to American Express for individuals with a strong background in technical accounting who wish to gain broader experiences and leadership roles within the organization in future roles.

Monitoring upcoming developments that could impact the company in the future, (including involvement in our implementation of the new rules for revenue), whilst leading first-level investigations into US GAAP accounting issues and documentation, you'll also partner with ICS business advisory controllers and market controllers to understand and resolve technical requests and queries.

Qualification:

We're looking for a Director-level professional with at least 8 years of experience and expertise, most recently honed in a similar technical accounting position.

- With excellent US GAAP knowledge, and strong team leadership skills, you'll have the ability to thoroughly research technical accounting issues and to present your findings in a concise and informative manner.

- A US GAAP CPA accounting qualification is preferred but not essential.
