Amazon.com, Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company, seeks a Senior Manager, Tax Advisory to lead the Tax Advisory function in APAC (ex JP). This role is based in Pune, India. This position will primarily work on a variety of functions related to direct tax matters and the ideal candidate will have experience evaluating issues related to e-commerce business. This role will provide technical guidance and advice on procedural setup to ensure that Amazon businesses and Finance Operations are in compliance with tax identity collection, withholding, information reporting and other transactional tax requirements for APAC (Ex JP) countries. This will include collaborating with core Corporate Tax technical team and identifying appropriate support needed from external consultants when necessary Responsibilities Include : - Develop and maintain a network of third party expert advisors - Advise internal Amazon stakeholders on tax-related issues, consulting with Corporate Tax and network of external advisors as needed - Monitor other assigned region for legislative or regulatory changes, policy development and jurisprudence to identify and mitigate potential tax exposures - Liaise closely with tax authorities - Identify new tax requirements and provide input on significant law changes that can have a broader impact - Develop, document and educate internal and external stakeholders on tax-related requirements, policies and procedures - Build strong business relationships across Amazon, providing support and collaboration with stakeholders to manage efforts that minimize tax exposures and maximize business opportunities by identifying, researching, quantifying, and implementing relevant tax planning and compliance activities - Perform contract review/amendment/sign-off from a tax technical perspective - Review tax filings and returns prior to submission to taxing authorities - Prepare materials needed for tax provisions - Draft and submit major technical interpretations and communications to tax authorities, often in response to an audit - Manage and assist with tax compliance and audits - Support special projects such as business restructurings, geo/expansions, mergers and acquisitions. - Develop solid understanding of Amazon's Tax and AP systems and processes - Liaison with tax authorities and consultants for tax notices and filling responses to department - Effectively communicate with both internal and external teams and customers Basic Qualifications: - Masters in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or Tax Law, Chartered Accountants - Minimum of 10 to 14 years of tax experience with a significant amount of time providing technical guidance - Strong background in direct and indirect taxes across region and foreign withholding tax - Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English - Able to travel internationally when required (Approx. 5%-10% of Job) - Ability to work independently with limited general supervision, effectively prioritizing competing demands managing multiple projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment - Exemplary relationship-building skills with both technical and non- technical audiences Preferred Qualifications: - MNC or big four international Direct tax experience preferred - Knowledge of Oracle eB-Tax and Payables Modules a plus - Experience working with tax compliance software such as GTCE, Vertex, ONESOURCE, etc a plus - Fluency in other common APAC language is a plus - Tax knowledge APAC countries is a plus - Ability to maintain a positive attitude in high stress/fast paced work environment
