The team drives the entire ingestion and certification process for Alexa skills, which involves the entire life cycle from the time a developer submits a skill to the time it is put up on the store, and ensuring the high quality experience for Alexa customers even after that.  The team is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to manage daily operations that involves processing, publishing, and maintaining digital content consumed by Amazon Alexa customers. As the Manager, Alexa Skills Certification, you will help define the policies, processes, and systems that are required to manage our skills certification operations. You will recruit and manage the team required to implement the strategy and processes. You would be responsible for understanding the domain and the product in detail, work with the testers and the level - up managers to create / build / modify test plans and test cases, driving the test case sign-off processes with the stakeholders, test execution and reporting. You will also be accountable for performance management of the Test Associates and Specialists. Above all, you will ensure we protect Amazon's high quality customer experience and provide an efficient and transparent experience for our 3P skill developers.  Role and Responsibilities  As the Testing Operations Manager, Alexa Skills, you will:  Manage day to day operations with direct reports  Manage the skills certification team to meet our Selection Expansion, Quality, and Service Level Goals  Assign/Allocate work to the Testing Associates / Specialists  Work with Quality Assurance Engineers and Seattle/Bangalore counter parts to understand the gaps and coordinate with process experts to fill the gaps  Contribute in creating / building test cases, test plans and testing strategies.  Be proactive in identifying, reporting troubleshooting and escalation of issues.  Understand and guide Testing Associates / Specialists on procedures/processes and guidelines for each project, apply them and be responsible for mentoring the team  Capture team test results and provide project status reports using software tools  Demand and capacity planning and ensuring that idle time and commitment misses are minimized  Keep a tab on Daily Productivity of Testing Associates and make sure that team and project is always on track  Will be responsible for day to day people management including hiring, training, retention, motivation and overall improvement  Manage performance and expectations of the workforce through a consistent implementation of performance measurement and feedback systems  Manage and improve performance of lower performers and be responsible for overall improvement of the team's performance  Suggest development of systems and tools for streamlining day to day operational tasks and subsequently improve overall team performance  Implement initiatives for managing attrition, improving performance and maintaining morale of the workforce  Communicate with key stake holders and be a leader of a highly charged work environment  Above all, protect and enhance Amazon Alexa's customer experience  Basic Qualifications  Digital content management experience  Business process operations experience  People management experience is required  Mobile industry experience a plus  Bachelor's degree required; with 5-7 years of work experience  Preferred Qualifications  Mobile industry, Internet of Things (IoT) experience a plus  Good command over Windows, Word and Excel  Strong analytical skills and ability to work in an unstructured and evolving environment  Good people management skills; comfort leading and developing teams with 15 or more employees  Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing architectural concepts  Strong bias for action; Street smarts with willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals  Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management; excellent interpersonal skills  Ability to partner with the technology teams to build required tools and systems.  Ability to partner with other Amazon groups as necessary to manage daily testing operations and exception processes  Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with experience in QAE roles  Experience in testing any consumer facing software product/ Android device will be a plus.
