Company: Leader in fertilizers business.  Experience:  AM- 5 yrs- 9 yrs  DM- 10 yrs- 15 yrs  Qualification: BE/B.Tech- Chemical.  Job Description:  - The candidate should of prior experience of 8-10 years experience in operating Phosphoric and Sulphuric acid plants in fertilizer industries.  - The incumbent is responsible for the plant output through operation of the plants producing Acids, Fertilisers and Utilities.  - The incumbent's role relates to management and deployment of all resources required for production and also evolving methodologies and systems to achieve higher productivity.  - The main thrust of the position is on identifying constraints and devising the means to overcome them.  - The methods used by the incumbent to achieve the objectives of the position include monitoring of process parameters and plant performance, diagnosing any situation out of normal specifications and seeking remedial measures.   - For the above purpose, assistance is obtained from Superiors and peers and also reference to technical literature.  - Another activity relates to the scientific and technological issues involved in operations under his control as well as those referred to him.   - The core operation processes as mentioned above i.e., SAP/PAP/Complex plants have similar operational processes and the needs are common. Hence, the positions in all these processes have to carry out similar nature of work.   - The incumbent is accountable for ensuring daily routine operation of the plant with the main thrust of minimizing the shutdown time so as to maximize production. This he does by guiding the technicians in their daily work, coordinating with up-stream and downstream operations to ensure receipt of raw material and utilities on time, supply of finished product to the next process in the correct quantity and quality, coordinating with maintenance department to attend to equipment requiring attention, ensuring strict compliance of PSMS/QMS/OHSAS, planning for yearly turn-around activities, training new comers and coordination with contractor technicians.  - Specific to the SAP, the incumbent is accountable for smooth process of storage of sulphur/rock phosphate. Also specific to this job is the coordination with the utility on utilising the steam which is a by-product to be used in TG for producing power and other utilities.   - The incumbent supervises the jobs of the technicians and attends to exceptional cases and ensures that standard operating practices are followed.   Some the typical shift jobs are as follows:  - Checking the operation parameters and instructing the concerned operators to adjust any deviation  - Informing instrument/electrical/maintenance departments for attending the regular maintenance activities like pumps, blowers, PH meters  - Preparing work permits  - Checking all the equipments and noting any abnormalities including the jobs to be performed in the next shutdown.  - Maximizing production and minimizing shutdown time and operating the plant in a safe manner is the main challenge for the incumbent. Sulphuric acid is a highly corrosive and hazardous in nature and high level of attention in handling and processing from the safety and environment point of view. All necessary controls are to be exercised to minimize the gases in effluents to meet the stringent standards prescribed by Pollution Control Board.   He is governed by DoA and his performance is monitored through PD matrix. He interacts with utilities, Phos. Acid plant and maintenance.   The performance of the incumbent is monitored by the superior on the basis of deviations from targets in relation to processes in the plant, day-to-day interactions, feedback from other departments etc. The incumbent has need-based contacts with the various departments within the Company and he is also a member of several in-house committees dealing with systems, safety etc.   External contacts are mainly with technical consultants.   Competencies Required :  - Process Management   - Managing Process Safety   - Operations Planning & Coordination  - Bulk Material Handling   - Managing Process Improvements   - Risk Assessment and Mitigation
