COE (Center of Excellence) Finance:
Our client is creating a Business Finance Team within GSD (Global Service Delivery) under the leadership of the newly created Head of Finance COE role. We are searching for a suitable candidate for hands on and value adding Finance role to provide best in class business partner support to GSD through the Centres of Excellence (COE) that have been created as the vehicle to lead GSD across all regions.
The role would evolve and become more defined as the firm grows the function.
The team will be involved in the following key areas: - present baseline financial MI within context of the group’s reporting framework SHTSto ensure decisions are taken with the relevant financial insights,
- input to the planning process,
- assist with & validate financial aspects of business cases to Group standards,
- track sustainable saves.
Job Description:
This hands-on role presents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront as we create the required business finance functionality within GSD. This is a supporting role to provide relevant, accurate and timely financial information & analysis to facilitate discussions with the business and meet their requirements. This will then be used to provide the appropriate finance support to ensure all key decision making is made with the relevant financial insights.
The following are the key areas of delivery/involvement for the role:
- Financial reporting – Prepare reports, interpret financial MI and write commentaries in a clear manner to allow COE Heads to clearly understand their financial performance and ensure there is only “one version of the truth” for all GSD financial reporting. Work with GFC and the wider GSD finance teams to ensure we fully understand the components of the financial MI for the COE and Regions within GSD. Work closely with GFC and Finance team to develop the financial MI functionality and processes for COE.
- Financial analysis – Carry out detailed financial analysis for the business alongside associated business volume drivers to ensure we can explain key variances or changes in trend.
- Business drivers – Create business driver/volume MI to accompany the financials.
- Planning - Provide support to COE Heads to ensure they fully understand the planning processes within GSD. Provide year on year analysis and commentaries to ensure annual financial plans and estimates are fully understood and key variances documented.
- Billing and recharge/recoveries process – Gain a detailed understanding of the billing processes and assist in relevant projects to help align with the financials. Assist with any changes required from a finance perspective.
- Business initiatives – Provide support to COE Heads to help validate their financial recommendations and provide relevant financial MI.
- Sustainable saves reporting – Work with COE Heads to assist in ensuring clear and accurate reporting of saves by COE and initiative, including value contribution (e.g. revenue enhancements by SD initiatives) so they can be included in respective GSC or regional SD financial plans.
- Work across a matrix management structure within the wider finance function to obtain appropriate MI & explanations to support the COE.
- Deliver to ad-hoc finance support and analysis requests by the Head of Finance for COE.
Skills/Experience Required
- Professional accountancy qualification (CFA/ACCA/CIMA/CA or MBA) with a minimum of 5 years post qualified experience in business support areas such as analysis, business modelling, planning and MI.
- Extensive financial modelling skills.
- Strong analytical review skills and experience of business case development.
- Ability to get behind the numbers and provide insightful and concise reasoning to trends and variances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to concisely present highly complex financial modelling and processes to business colleagues.
- Experience of translating business initiatives into finance recommendations and then explain how to include in the various planning/reporting processes across the Group.
- Involvement in Finance change projects and a good change agent.
- Knowledge of the rolling operating plan process and MTO’s.
- Knowledge of the banks financial planning systems/structures (gained through roles in areas such as planning, finance, analytics etc).
- Understanding of the dynamics of Banking products and operational processes.
- Excellent spreadsheet (Excel) and modelling skills. Ability to use TM1 would be desirable.
- Working knowledge of Activity Based Costing methodologies.
