Purpose of role:
- Play a pivotal role in the Supplier Development team providing experience and guidance with the team.
- Supplier qualification – carry out supplier audits to determine suppliers capability to supply materials fit for company’s needs.
- Component qualification - reduce the risk of packaging component failure through effective assessment and management of packaging components via appropriate testing.
- Review and update of individual packaging component specifications.
- Supplier capability build – work with suppliers to improve current processes and qualify components within specification.
Context of role:
Strategy: The Supplier Development function in India is at foundation stage. Regionally the function has been established to support procurement activities locally, regionally and globally and to provide direct Technical support to our JV partners.
In FY11 Technical and Procurement will work together to introduce a Supplier To Plant programme for Asia Pacific.
Trend: Supply is increasing manufacturing capability regionally and growth from Asia Pac is expected to be significant. The trend In supply is to move towards a more integrated, holistic, and synergistic value chain – in terms of consumer needs, product development, Innovation, Procurement, Technical, Conversion, Distribution and Sales.
Role: Involves working in India alongside the India Technical Manager and Technical team who are all highly skilled technical experts currently covering Technical aspects for India supply. And at present the team are covering supplier development key areas such as supplier auditing, specification development and delivery of bespoke technical solutions encompassing a diverse range of packaging/process issues.
The role is primarily responsible for delivering support to:- - Brand Change projects in Innovation, Renovation and Value Added Packaging.
- Global Procurement – supporting supplier selection, auditing and component qualification projects sourcing from India primarily to the UK and Africa.
- Asia Pac regional and local procurement re-sourcing of packaging components via audit & component qualification
- Supplier of Choice programme – replacing quality control with quality assurance through detailed assessment of specifications and validation testing of new methodology
- Global Supplier Development – Delivery of supplier capability and technical expertise in any geography, rapidly.
- Delivery on supplier audit qualification program as agreed with the Supplier Development Manager – Asia Pac and India Technical Manager.
- Complete Supplier LTO audit to high standard and record findings in entropy system
- Complete a component qualification program – ensure all components meet company requirements via materials testing and supplier management.
- Delivery of Supplier Capability Improvement program as agreed with Supplier development Manager and India Technical Manager
Qualifications - Graduate calibre or equivalent - preferably in a material science, engineering or scientific discipline - Professional qualification in relevant field Or 2 + years experience in a technical role.
Experience - At least 7-10 yrs of professional experience - In depth experience to deliver technical solutions - Proven track record of delivering cross business projects - Experience of machine / material interface - Proven track record of delivering cross business projects - Knowledge of packaging and (liquids and Ingredient) components - Experienced in working across functions with strong stakeholders - Experienced in working with manufacturing suppliers
